I don't think Dr. Drew's opinions here matter either. His guest is the one with the credentials to comment and give the opinion that matters.

I don’t agree. Reagan was an actor. They are good in front of cameras. Trump is a used car salesman who had his own tv show. He oozes charisma. He can make half of America think Putin is the good guy. Actors like Deniro have a lot of passion for their country and aren’t afraid to show it.

What are politicians really good at? Being politicians. They need to meet zero qualifications about their intelligence or knowledge of anything.

I really liked the old LoveLine show with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew, but both of them have become MAGA morons and can just fuck off at this point. I don't care what either one of them says about politics. I also don't care what liberal actors like Robert DeNiro have to say, either. Actors' opinions about politics are not important.
Just shut up and dribble, am I right?

:) Touché. They can and should speak up if they like. I personally just won't put much weight on it.

I put just as much weight on their views as anyone else’s. Just because their field of expertise is the arts doesn’t mean they don’t know anything else.

From Music to Missile Defense: The Very Interesting Life of Jeff Baxter
https://now.northropgrumman.com/from-mu ... eff-baxter
If you're a classic rock 'n' roll fan, you've probably heard of Jeff Baxter. Known as "Skunk" to friends and bandmates, Baxter was a founding member of Steely Dan and later joined the Doobie Brothers for some of their most popular albums. If you've got an interest in government counterterrorism and technology, meanwhile, Mr. Baxter's name may also be familiar. It turns out the long-haired, hippie-type fella from Washington D.C. is actually a noted national security expert with a flair for thinking outside the box.

But the Skunk had another stripe: Baxter was passionate about music technology and it got him thinking about how other types of tech, notably data-compression algorithms and large-capacity storage devices used by military agencies, could also be used for recording. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Steely Dan guitarist received a subscription to an aviation magazine after mentioning his interest to a neighbor — who happened to be a former Pentagon engineer — which led him to wonder if existing military systems could be adapted to serve other purposes.

Armed with time and interest, Baxter wrote a five-page paper suggesting that the military's ship-based Aegis anti-aircraft system could be converted into a missile-defense solution. He took the paper to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who in turn passed it on to Rep. Curt Weldon. Both were amazed, and Baxter was quickly drafted into service as a consultant; along with the U.S. Department of Defense he's also done work for the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and private defense innovators such as Northrop Grumman.

Fauci is in for questioning in a hearing today. He mentions that to this day he and his family are in constant danger and receive constant death threats. (from Republicans and Trump supporters.)

MTG makes an ass out of herself in order to get a clip of herself yelling at Fauci for her rabid followers.

Why should I listen to anything that Aaron Rupar posts?

Just ignore his comments and watch the video. That appears to be video inside the hearing. Make up your own commentary. I didn’t watch any of the videos. It’s like watching the Benghazi hearings. It’s all a political show and nothing else.

I wonder how many death threats Fauci got doing the same job under the previous 6 Presidents. My guess is a LOT less. You are the premier infectious disease expert under 6 consecutive Presidents and then Trump is elected….

He shouldn't get death threats. That's wrong.

There is a whole segment of people that thought Fauci killed people during the AIDS epidemic. He is hated by a lot of people. My guess is that he has been dealing with death threats since the 80's.

Btw, the theory that COVID was a lab leak has regained some steam. NYT did an article on it:

I’m am not that concerned with where it came from as much as I was concerned about how we dealt with it.

I still see the occasional concerned chatter about the H5N1 bird flu. I just don't really know how worried to be about it. Some things I read say it's low-risk, others say it can be lethal; others say we just don't know.

Physician scientist Dr. Steven Quay highlights six reasons COVID-19 is most likely a gain-of-function laboratory leak:

1. Hospital, antibody, and wastewater data indicates the virus was spreading in Wuhan and globally by the Fall of 2019.

"The virus was spreading in Wuhan and around the world in the fall of 2019, months before the first case in the Hunan seafood market. This is supported by 14 observations or evidence."

"The evidence includes the calculation of the time to the most recent common ancestor. Hospital overloads in Wuhan. Antibodies and patients from Italy, Spain, and the U.S. Wastewater samples from Brazil. Sick athletes at the October Wuhan military games. School closings in Wuhan, and dozens of documented patients. This dismisses out of hand the market as the origin."

2. Examination of human infections, animal samples, and environmental specimens from the market shows no infected animals or wildlife vendors.

"With SARS-1, literally 100% of the market animals were infected... None of these data are consistent with an infected animal passing SARS-2 to a human at the market."

3. Events from March 2019, including unusual activities by the Chinese Communist Party and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, suggest a lab-acquired infection had occurred.

"This timeline includes unusual attention from the Chinese Communist Party, leading to a PLA physician soldier being put in charge. Large tender request to repair biosafety equipment. A virus database disappearing in the middle of the night. Large tender requests for a lab security force to 'handle foreign personnel.' Patents for a device to prevent a lab-acquired infection... These events taken together are a classic example of closing the barn door after the horses left."

4. There is no zoonotic evidence, with 96,000 animals testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 and no evidence of posterior diversity in the virus genome.
Historical comparisons with SARS-CoV-1 show multiple spillover events, which are absent in SARS-CoV-2.

5. The genome of SARS-CoV-2 has eight synthetic features not found in natural viruses.

"The probability that SARS came from nature based on these features is one in a billion. These features are the backbone, the receptor binding domain, the furin cleavage site, the genetics of the furin cleavage site, the number, location, and pattern of cloning sites that use the Baric cloning method, and the [inaudible] gene..."

6. "These same features were described in a 2018 DARPA grant by WIV and U.S. scientists.

With respect to the grant, SARS-2 had the proposed backbone from the proposed reason in China. The proposed adaption to human killing. The proposed diversity from SARS-1. The proposed noseeum cleavage site number, location, and pattern. The proposed human cleavage site at the proposed S1-S2 junction."

What happens if we have these hearings and nothing happens?

"The Wuhan Institute of Virology is testing a NEPA virus in a synthetic clone. This is a U.S. CDC bioterrorism agent that kills three out of four people. A lab leak with an airborne NEPA virus would quickly within weeks disrupt food and energy distribution, fire and police services, and medical care."

"My analysis of this tipping point event is that it would set back civilization about 250 years. The work of this committee is critical. If we now fail to act with the knowledge we have, history, if it can still be recorded, will judge us poorly."
"There are 3 rules I live by: never get less than 12 hours sleep, never play cards with a guy with the same first name as a city & never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Everything else is cream cheese."

It’s hard to read scientific stuff sometimes. He seems to come to the conclusion Covid started in a lab in Wuhan China. A Chinese soldier caught it and spread it at a military games sports thing with other countries and that started the spread around the world.

The last part he talks about I think a different virus that the US is/was working on that kills 3/4 people and China somehow has it now in their Wuhan lab and that if that got out would set us back 250 years.

He wants us to act to make sure this event doesn’t happen. It’s China. They don’t take orders from anyone but China. What is China doing with a secret US virus that seems to be developed on purpose to kill people? And what is the US doing making that virus on purpose?

Good questions. I wish I had the answers.

I just got Covid…hit me pretty hard for about 3-4 days. I’m all good now…think my wife caught it traveling and gave it to me. The hospital I work at is not seeing many Covid patients though.. In fact I believe we’ve stopped tracking.
