It seems unwise to attack Taylor Swift and her legion of fans. Taylor did endorse Kamala, but she didn't explicitly trash Trump or his supporters. Saying you "hate" somebody just because they don't vote for you is not very Presidential and just another example of something that would be considered unacceptable for any other Presidential candidate in modern history.

Everyone seems to be lying about Vance admitting to lying. Vance clarified his comment by saying: “I say that we’re creating a story, meaning we’re creating the American media focusing on it.”

In other words, he wasn’t saying that he makes stuff up.
If we care about the truth, it’s important to take what he said in context, and not do what we’re accusing him of doing (making stuff up).

Certainly it was a bad choice of words, which could hurt their campaign. Vance keeps sabotaging Trump.

Sounds like the guy hid in the bushes with an AK-47 on the next hole after the one Trump was playing golf on. The USSS agent went a hole ahead to scout out and saw the guy; he called out after the man and eventually fired shots at him. He was apprehended. Trump and the agents were not hurt, thank goodness.

In many of the tweets he seems to be a Republican, has at times been a Trump supporter, at other times supporting others like Tulsi Gabbard and Vivek Ramaswami. I see what you're saying. Maybe that is what Vance meant. But if so, he didn't say it very well. "Creating a story" sounds like you're creating it, making it up. "Bringing attention to a story or issue" would be better, and I'm sure we can think of several other better ways to say this. Also, keep in mind that the "story" being "created" here seems to be total BS. The argument being made here, repeatedly by Trump and Vance about this topic and others, seems to be, "Well, many people are talking about this, so I'm just putting it out there, just trying to raise awareness and attention of it." But that's a pretty pathetic thing to say. It ignores any responsibility to try to know what is true, and it ignores the possible harm of pushing out false information to a large audience and implying it to be confirmed and true without doing so. I don't think Vance is innocent here and he should not "create stories" if he hasn't seen any good evidence for them other than people talking about them on social media.

I’m not sure this was even an attempt on Trump’s life. Reports say shots were fired “in Trump’s vicinity,” not “at Trump.” Of course, if turns out not to be an assassination attempt, that won’t stop Republicans from saying it was.
