There is a lesson in there for many of us. 3 years into his career, a lot of people had given up on Conley ever being something special. When he was given his big (at the time) contract extension, most people thought it was a terrible deal.
Give me a break. He averaged 11 ppg 4 assists on 40% 3pt shooting in his second season.
So not even 2ppg more than 19-year-old Chriss did AS A ROOKIE! Perfect. Thanks for pointing that out!
LOL - oh man, you REALLY shouldn't have brought this up as some way to prove your point:

Fultz with whatever the shoulder issue is and changing his mechanics has been a major letdown but most of the other's showing their stuff. You can see Lonzo's potential, Tatum and Josh getting good run and look like players. DSJ and Fox doing their thing and now I am watching my first Markkanen game, saw he has had couple decent starts but he is here lighting up the Cavs.
John Collins and my boy D Mitchell seem to be two others who are settling in quite well
I think this draft is going to be one of the best since 2003.

I think I want to see some of the college season first.
Just food for thought with Fultz, etc. The Celtics passed on a chance to draft Fultz, the traded Isaiah PLUS a bunch of good assets to get Kyrie. They must really like Kyrie, and they must have really believed that they have an open window to win now. Did they also guess something about Fultz's development and IT's injury?

I just saw that Minnesota got blown out by the Pacers and wondered what happened. I just the box score and saw that the Pacers shot 66.7% against the great Tom Thibodeau's defense. Yes the same guy that was the defensive answer to all of Mike D'Antoni's problems, according to the great Steve Kerr.
I went further and saw that the Wolves ranked 26th in the league last year in defensive efficiency just a tick above your Phoenix Suns.
The owner went out and paid him a crap load of money to run the entire show. Paid a crap load of money on the current roster and his team performs like they have for the past two years.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
I get a major Trailblazers vibe from the Timberwolves. They have some really good pieces and they're coached well on most nights, but it's gonna take some kind of fluke or injury for them to get past the second round at best.

Agreed. This was an exceptionally strong draft class with a bunch of different types of players, all potential cornerstone/building block guys. Solid 8-9 deep. I'm still so impressed by it.

Up until this year Thibs didn't have a lot of players who knew the first thing about playing defense. Butler and Gibson will help as savvy vets who know how to defend. But it's only been 3 or 4 games; it will take some time to teach these guys how to play good team defense. I bet by the end of this year they will be a lot better.

I agree with you; this is a wise observation. Everybody who thinks Chriss and Bender are busts, remember that they can't even purchase alcohol yet. They should really be juniors in college right now. The way rookies are trained and groomed in today's NBA is a real disservice to players like these, who should probably be playing important roles for college teams at this point in their lives, getting reps in important games but against lesser competition. The 2017 NBA really does damage to these kinds of raw young players, IMO. It's one of the biggest problems with the current state of the league.
Let me know one thing Chriss is proven to be elite at. And let’s remember Conley has always been known as a high character guy. 40% from 3 is ELITE. Let alone as a second year player.
Chriss has a shitty attitude and there’s not one thing he’s above average at except dunking. He’s the next Stromile Swift.

Chriss has a s*** attitude and there’s not one thing he’s above average at except dunking. He’s the next Stromile Swift.
He hasn't proven to be anything. He's 20. Relax bro. BTW, you will notice in the player comparison I provided that Chriss actually shot BETTER from three than Conley during their rookie years!

Ordering from the drive-thru? Fouling?
He’s 20 with a bad attitude. That doesn’t come with age.
Ever hear of Zach Randolph? Or Jermain O'Neal? Or Rasheed Wallace? Or countless others?
It's really weird that you don't understand that attitude almost always improves with age. It's called maturing. It's like... what everyone does? I mean, are you the same person you were when you were 20??

With guys, our frontal lobe isn't even fully formed until usually around 25! That is the part of the brain associated with decision making and rational thinking. It's no coincidence that the average NBA player peaks from 26-29.

I just think Thibodeau has been and is one of the most over rated coaches in league history. What has he won? He has some pretty good players in Chicago and basically ran them in the ground.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
I don’t need you to give me articles to read, you can keep them to yourself thank you.
There’s a large enough of a sample of 21 and under players to see how they are different from each other. Booker had a great attitude at 19. You could tell he’s a winner and mature beyond his years. Amare was a hard worker and his will to win was never questioned, not to mention he was always more talented very clearly than Marquese. KAT is a winner. You can just tell who has the right attitude and who doesn’t. You and I don’t need to rehash this. Clearly we disagree.
