With earlier reports that Reed was the other one being waived, I wonder if we're negotiating a possible trade. Not sure why else his being cut wouldn't be included with the other 2.

Assuming it's Reed
PG. Canaan, Okobo, Melton
SG. Booker, Crawford, Daniels
SF. Ariza, Jackson, Bridges
PF. Anderson, Warren, Bender
C. Ayton, Chandler, Holmes

King is on a 2-way contract. So we only needed to cut 2 players.
EDIT: Never mind, we still need to make room for Crawford. Maybe he hasn't signed yet, though, and we're going to work on trading Reed. The cut deadline was at 2 pm.

The Davon Reed decision is interesting. I remember everyone thought it was a reach when he was picked with Jordan Bell and others on the board. It seemed like there was a lot of cognitive dissonance after the fact to justify the pick, but he did show some things in Summer league before his rookie season. I think the knee injury was pretty devastating as he wasn't someone particularly quick before the injury and he moved like my dad in his games last year.
Again - he showed promise in Summer League this year, but has looked out of place in preseason.
Ultimately, I think he's a better fit for the roster than Troy Daniels now that we have Crawford. I don't see the point of having both JC and TD. They both have the same deficiencies. At least Reed brings something different in theory.
That's an excellent take and how I've seen it play out as well. Not sure why he looks so good in SL and then reverts back in preseason. I'm wondering if it's a confidence issue.

I don't like this rushing (or letting him rush) back. Let him miss the first 2 games, and he'll have 7 more days from now to heal before the Warriors game.
Nah. I knew there was no way he was missing opening night. Kid is a baller. I think he'll be fine.

I just don't like risking anything with a $158 million investment.

I doubt we are. He wouldn’t be playing — or allowed to play — if the doctors and trainers didn’t give him the go ahead. It’s presumably healed enough that he can play on it without making it worse.

I know what you mean but nobody could tell Kobe not to play either.

2 pm deadline passed. Gambo says no more cuts for today. I guess Crawford will sign tomorrow.

I feel bad for Harrison. He worked hard to get here. If only he could shoot or pass...

Sucks about Shaq getting cut. He's a legit difference maker on defense but is useless on offense unfortunately.
The Bucks waived Tim Frazier btw. True PG, still young but a journeyman.

We could still bring him back on a 2-way contract if he clears waivers, right?

This is like the Marcus Banks and Smush Parker days all over again, except at least that was for the
backup PG position and we already had a hall of fame starting PG.

I think he'll play PG for us, but I think he's a bad fit next to Booker. His use is that now Jackson doesn't have to create everything on the 2nd unit.

I think he just doesn't have nba athleticism. Daniels is a very quick shooter. Reed has the all around game, but he's not quite quick or strong or coordinated enough to play.

That could be it. He has looked a step slow in preseason.

I thought he played well for NO a couple of years ago. Obviously, he would be the 5th most talented guy in our lineup, but he knows how to play.
