I hate to see them gone, but I don't feel bad for Oubre or Rubio. Both were good to PHX, but it is equally true that PHX was good to them.
Still, I know there was a number of ways to keep Oubre but it was not easy as we needed to send out 31M in contracts if we operated as an over the cap team, or have enough cap room to take Paul's 41M minus Rubio and whatever pieces we added.
Ideally the best solution would have been to make it Rubio, Saric/Barnes sign and trade, but that would have been pretty complicated since the BYC rule would apply to the sign and trade, and in any case I am sure Presti would have demanded more/better assets, seeing he actually got the future pick despite having Oubre in the deal.
Anyway, now we have two years to become as highly competitive as we can; else Booker is gone. Under that premise, the FO better have a plan and the resources available to execute it. This is not the time to chicken out after essentially a decade of futility.

I was skeptical about both of them when they signed, especially Oubrey, but they both performed as well as anyone could have hoped. They were both incredibly good influences in the locker room and gave it all on the court. I think they will both play well, and OKC will look like they made a heck of a trade. Good for them.
