As Split mentioned, just about everyone noticed and was surprised by Grizz success without Ja.

Sometimes I think player designations are silly. I first read that as no other guard and I was like, I know Wade did that. Wade in fact did it 6 times, including 4 years in a row, topping out at a 2.2 stl and 1.3 blk season. Imo, Wade was more of a pg than Ball is. Wade is shorter and I’m sure spent more time with the ball in his hands than Ball does.
Regardless, Lonzo has kind of found himself as a skilled 3 and D guy. He’s like a do everything type that fills the box score. He shoots, he defends, he passes. Just doesn’t really do any of it as the primary option.

Seeing a lot of Dejounte Murray love on the timeline. I know it’s all relative, but it’s funny to me because he’s essentially a Westbrook clone and everyone hates on Westbrook.
20/8/8 vs 18/9/9 and both are inefficient shooters. Though I’ll agree there are 2 big differences, Dejounte is very good defensively and he doesn’t turn the ball over like Westbrook does. Those are kinda huge. Will be interesting to see what the narrative is going forward on Murray though if he doesn’t ever learn how to shoot.

Think his pull-up game is really coming along and the FT% shouldn't be that hard to boost.

Here’s a chart for you if you didn’t already know Steph is the best shooter

You could even say that he's outstanding in his field. Where's Book in there? It's too convoluted to make out.

I couldn’t find him…it’s possible that’s the corner of his forehead below CJ McCollum and above Seth Curry?

Also I love that Russell Westbrook leads the league in 3pt shot quality, everyone just leaves him completely unguarded

I also wonder if they’d flip teams if say GS and whoever Utah is playing are not able to field teams. Would they just have us play Utah?
Re: Around the League: Week 10 (12/20 - 12/26)
I think they’ll put the games with the most stars active in the prime spots. Say GS has a covid outbreak and Steph/Dray/Poole are out, they’ll probably move our game to a less desirable time slot. Especially if they have to postpone a game. Then they’ll move another game into the prime slot.

I think that depends on your definition of a PG. Mine is closer to a distributor first that can make the defense pay when they start to sag and help. Wade was never a distributor first. I think Ball fits that mold more when I think of a PG.Split T wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 7:32 amSometimes I think player designations are silly. What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I like to use primary ball handlers vs secondary ball handlers.
Although the point of this stat was related strictly to defense. Honestly I don’t know who Lonzo generally defends, but he’s 6’6 and is not typical pg size. I’d be more impressed if he was the shortest player to hit those benchmarks as the blocks are the surprising stat here. But Wade was shorter than Ball.
Re: Around the League: Week 10 (12/20 - 12/26)
Sure, but in that regard, guys like Rose, Parker, Marbury, even Curry are not PG’s. They are not distributors first. You could probably call Draymond or Lebron pg’s as distributors, both who have hit those benchmarks.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 11:04 amI think that depends on your definition of a PG. Just checked, he’s 27% on above the break 3s. Only 23 of his 118 3pt attempts are corner 3s.
Re: Around the League: Week 10 (12/20 - 12/26)
Well he should probably only shoot corner 3s then. His above the break % must be atrocious because he’s only shooting 31% overall.

For starters, they’re at opposite ends of their career arcs. Young Russ got plenty of love. But I also think what turns a lot of people off with Russ these days is his inability to recognize his own limitations. Murray gives off the vibe of a much more humble player.Split T wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 8:13 amSeeing a lot of Dejounte Murray love on the timeline. Oh for sure and I think a lot of the hate Westbrook gets is fair…I guess I’m mostly speaking of the people who think he’s not a useful player. He’s not the superstar he was anymore, but he is useful and I think Murray is kinda showing the model for what he should be at this stage of his career. Unfortunately Westbrook probably doesn’t see it that way. He’s not good enough to be getting 4+ turnovers a game and not play defense.Shabazz wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 12:19 pmFor starters, they’re at opposite ends of their career arcs. That's good for me the basketball fan but I hope it works out. Really happy it hasn't hit our squad thus far.
