2023 NBA Draft
Re: 2023 NBA Draft
I wouldn’t pick Scoot, but I’d definitely consider a massive haul from OKC…what if they offer up SGA/Chet/Scoot for Wemby? Would you say no to that?

Would you trade Book and Ayton for Wembanyama?
Maybe even add Shamet.

Maybe even add Shamet.
Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Scoot is nice, but this kid looks like the real deal in nearly every way.
Who is better? The Oak Hill Academy team in 2002 that LeBron beat or the GLeague Ignite team in 2022? This kid put up insane numbers in back to back games.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Well Wembanyama is the same age now that LeBron was as a rookie, so not sure it’s a fair comparison, but I’m sure the G-League team is much better, though Wemby is also on a much better team than LeBron was.
Re: 2023 NBA Draft
I'm not trying to start a fight with this question, but is there anything Ayton does better than Wemby right now?

Rebound, defend, shoot from the midrange.
Sometime you would think he's Joe Kleine or Bo Outlaw from how people judge him around here.

Folks are salivating about Wemby the way I saw them salivating about Zion.

Wemby will be a DPOY candidate when he enters the league. Can’t say that about Ayton. The Bobster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 6:50 pmRebound, defend, shoot from the midrange.

Maybe Ayton is a better midrange shooter. We don’t have the shooting volume from Wemby, but we know what his shot looks like and how he can hit comfortably from deep.
Claiming that he’s not as good as a once in a generation player isn’t diminishing him to the likes of Klein or Outlaw. It’s a fair discussion we could have about any big man in the league.

Zion was a top 20 player his second year in the league.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Ayton is definitely a better rebounder. Better post defender probably, though I haven’t seen Wemby defend the post in a 1v1 situation. Probably has better touch around the rim.
Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Ayton isn't quite as much of a bum as he's sometimes made out to be around here. He's a great defender, a very solid rebounder, and he can shoot like 67% around the rim. It's easy to focus on the sizable flaws in his game and his inability to be "the man" for a winning offense, but he is good at a lot of things. Would I trade him for this this Wemby kid, sight unseen? Yeah, probably. But Ayton is good, too.

I was all for matching him once he got the offer sheet signed, but that’s because I don’t believe in losing assets without sufficient return. If he doesn’t show himself to be worthy of his label “Mr. Max,” I would explore trades as soon as we are allowed.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Ayton joins a list of max players that don’t deserve the money they got and will hinder championship aspirations because of their cap hold implications on the roster. It doesn’t mean he’s not good. It means he’s not as good as his contract would demand him to be in order for us to be a real contender each year.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 8:19 amAyton isn't quite as much of a bum as he's sometimes made out to be around here. Re: 2023 NBA Draft
I'd trade Ayton for him immediately even with all the health questions, he actually changes the way teams play you.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:57 pmIt’s way too early to say that.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:11 pmYes...because his body just didn't hold up.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 8:08 pmIs that a bad thing?virtual9mm wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 7:06 pmFolks are salivating about Wemby the way I saw them salivating about Zion.

Love, Hurts.

Probably? LOL! ESPN has him rated as the highest prospect ever. Including above LeBron.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 8:19 amAyton isn't quite as much of a bum as he's sometimes made out to be around here. I only say "probably" because I have watched the Wemby kid for all of 5 minutes. If such a thing were offered to me, I'd learn more and make a more informed decision. I don't spend much any time learning about NCAA players or draft prospects except right before the draft each year.
