I got to meet Shawn Marion at the All-Star Crossover event. He was super nice to me and my son.
Also got to see Chris Paul give a little talk about his road to the NBA.
That's super cool wp, glad he was nice in person. One of the all-time great Suns.

The events weren't that bad this year
I think the whole Dunk we've never Seen thing is a bit unfair
A guy should still be given his props for executing a good dunk. Ain't possible to see a whole bunch of new stuff
Those guys were alright especially compared to last couple years
3pt was ok also and glad Dame won
The Skills competition is what is the travesty for me. Think they've got to scrap that one for sure
As for the game, I wish the guys understood how to balance the showtime with the "hooping". Some clear the lane alleys n dunks are fine but 40mins of that is wild plus now with the 3pter (4pt) now being the new show stopper it really becomes a ridiculous looking scrimmage
The highlight for many had to be the 2mins of Tatum v Brown. Guys actually played D and each dude hit tough buckets followed by Oohhhs by the crowd. Somewhere along the line guys forgot that's what amazes most fans.
I don't know if it's injury concerns or what but that would be ironic as the guy with the facial injury was going against his teammate so in the scope of things outside of Giannis, it's Jaylen who should have been chillin
Anyways.....
End of Rant lol

The modern All-Star Game is all about making a few highlight plays (dubious as they might be with no defense being played), getting a few days off (although I'm sure they were thrilled to spend them in Salt Lake City), and being treated like royalty.
Nobody of note wants to participate in the dunk contest, and the game itself is nothing more than a bad scrimmage, so I don't even bother anymore. Which sucks, because I used to love it and went to the last one in Phoenix and had a great time there in 2009.

Ya it’s just a big party/event where they also play a basketball game. I think I’d scrap the game all together and come up with a new idea.

Those dunks were not only AMAZING but they were all on the first and only try. How anyone isn't wowed by this, I'm confused. Those were incredible dunks.

He was very good, probably a top 5 dunk contest dunker of the last 15 years…

It's only because he's a nobody. He's a very good dunker, always has been, but there are professional dunkers that do the same thing for a living. Without star power the dunk contest is poopoo for the casual fan.

He’s barely an NBA Player.
Might as well just open it up to anybody on the street.
Fans want to see the players they watch compete. I don’t just YouTube street dunk contests. Maybe you do

Well, if the fucking players aren't going to do it and you're only going to have obscure NBA players willing to sign up, I'd rather watch "anybody from the street" that can dunk and put on a show. Until the league forces the star players you and others want to see compete, it's either a known NBA end of bench guy that takes 6 failed attempts to do an off the backboard dunk or dudes like McClung that make some amazing dunks. Not sure why people are bitching about it when it's the players faults for saying no to the events.
How is it any different if G-League call up McClung puts on a show and wins vs. the 13th guy on the Raptors roster that plays 4 minutes a night? That's the kind of shit we usually get anyway. It checks the box of NBA body so that's better for the fans? I saw countless fans at the event, players at the event and folks all over social media blowing up about the McClung dunks. Sounds like a win for the NBA to me.

Yeah I'm sorry but Ja, Zion and whoever else no showing doesn't make me throw shade at McClung
Good for him taking advantage of the platform
Think he also has a Puma deal or something now so the Too Cool for School stars and Silver can figure out what they would do but like I said good for him

Oh right
And then there's this lol
I love Tatum's game and dude gonna probably have his fair set of accolades when it's all said and done but this is just badd
Nothing remotely close to a historic or even All Star performance smh with this "55"
The all-star game is just annoying…. At least the rising stars kids seem to appreciate their time there far more than the pre-madonnas. Also, McClung did great but wasn’t even on an nba team until last week if I’m not mistaken. Almost like he signed only to participate in the dunk contest lol.

Kinda like Derrick Jones Jr with us as well. I believe he had zero nba dunks before he competed in the dunk contest.

Regardless of how I feel about any of it, I didn't tune in for a single minute of it. Would probably be fun to attend.

The long bombs were cool but I don't enjoy watching unimpeded layups and dunks. With no defense, you're taking away half of basketball.

If you jack up a shot every time you have the ball and never pass, this isn't very impressive. Hometown team guy Markanen barely touched the ball because, just like Ayton , you can't pass yourself the ball.
