It is a thing where players add weight, or too much weight, and it negatively affects them - especially if it's kind of artificial weight over an offseason. Can affect their athleticism or jumpshot and maybe that's the case with Allen. He'll lose some weight as the season goes so maybe in a month or two we'll see some more pop. It might have happened sooner had he not missed some time early on. A guy like Cam Johnson, who was pretty slight when he came into the league has filled out more naturally over the years and doesn't look overly bulky but just more physically mature and built so he carries it a bit easier.

Not really worried about Grayson yet. He shot for shit last night but his previous 3 games he shot 12/25. Hopefully last night was just a bad night and he’ll murder the lakers Tuesday.

Let's trade Grayson Allen for Cam Johnson.
Split T wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 11:36 pm
I would consider that if the money worked. I also am hoping Grayson figures out how to shoot with his newly added bulk.

Grazin' Allen has been quite a drag.
I'm kind of missing his mean streak.

Not sure I'm digging the bigger, nicer Allen. I'm kind of kidding but I'm kind of not. I'd like to see our team get a little anger and determination in them especially on the defensive end. We couldn't guard ourselves out of a wet paper bag (or something like that; note to self, need better metaphors). Teams are scoring on us like we're not even there. Gonna have to learn how to get some stops if want to win games. This team isn't good enough to just outscore their opponents.

Well, not worried but it's not looking good; we are talking about the top 3pt shooter from last season and he is averaging 35% this year, with little contributions elsewhere. We'll know more when KD is back and his gravity makes life easier for our shooters, but there are reasons to be concerned considering using Allen in a trade is one of the very few ways we have to upgrade.

Grayson looks like ass, a thicc one. We really need a player with a nasty streak, and he's our best trade chip

Blazers: Grant Williams, Caleb Martin, *salary filler* vasilije micic, Taj Gibson, Dequan Jeffries , CHA ‘27 1st and 27 1st (via DAL)
Hornets: Jerami Grant, Jusuf Nurkic, two 2nds from Suns (‘26 Den and ‘31 suns
Suns: Robert Williams, Nick Richards.
Suns rebuild their center rotation with Elite defensive big man, and another competent big
Hornets with Melo, Miller, Bridges, Grant in the East?
Blazers got some extra 1st to help get rid of Ayton in trades.

Suns twitter wants us to trade Nurk for him but how much of an upgrade would he really be?
Seems like two cheeks of the same ass.
Plus we’d probably have to give up our ‘31 first, miss me with that.

There’s no way Jonas is worth the ‘31 1st…he’s equal value to me as Nurk. More reliable shooter…I think even more limited defensively. Both great rebounders. I think I’d just keep Nurk

JV is significantly better than Nurk this season, and most importantly, he plays big under the rim way more consistently. The Suns 2031 pick is too probably too steep of a price for me, but this isn't..
Suns: Jonas Valanciunas (3 years/$30M), Malcolm Brogdon (1 year/$22.5M)
Wizards: Jusuf Nurkic (2 years/$37M), Grayson Allen (4 years/$70M)

Explain to me why the Hornets would want three guys who play the same position with two of them being paid $55M combined, and the third being someone they hope to play enough that he deserves a max rookie extension.

I don't think so. IIRC, the restrictions on combining salary only applies to 2-for-1 trades. 2-for-2 should be possible.

Could be something, could be nothing but it doesn't sound like nothing. Guy just can't stay healthy and apparently the final 3 years of his deal aren't guaranteed so the Pels can opt out of that contract after this season.

Absolutely would do it (actually a couple days ago I mentioned those two as possible targets).
Now excuse the blasphemy, but I'd also call Utah and see if Trader Danny would send us Sexton and Kessler (plus small filler needed to make it work arranged in two separated trades) for the '31 1stR pick, Nurkic and Okogie. Protections on the pick to discuss, might be forced to leave it unprotected.

Sexton makes too much to do that trade.. he’s a couple hundred thousand ahead of Nurk. Next year Nurk makes more though

Oof I had Nurk mistakenly at 18.6M. Nevermind then. Kessler alone is not worth the pick, and involving Clarkson does not move that needle.
