Everyone wanted more 3s because that was going to solve the problem.
Who said that was going to solve the problem?

Take the "anonymous NBA Executive" part with a grain of salt but I agree with everything else

You really think that's true? I really don't see it. His playmaking has been awful against all the double teams thrown at him.

Why is he playmaking at all? Why is the spacing allowing him to be doubled? How come 2-3 seasons ago he was off the ball giving us go-to offense in the midrange and in the low post? Why wasn't he getting doubled then?

I see the doubles as a problem when we don’t have KD, and to a lesser extent, Beal on the floor with Booker. When those 2 aren’t out there we always have someone that really is not a threat offensively. Oso, Nurk, Plumlee, Dunn, etc really aren’t going to create enough offense to hurt another team so playing off them to double Booker is much easier. Outside of Booker, KD and Beal nobody is a consistent scoring threat. Allen, O’Neal, Jones, etc can score, but not consistent enough to carry the team.

I'm talking about the quote you posted.

Yep, we need our interior bigs to attempt to go to the basket more. Nurk was better at this but Plumlee and Oso rarely do so teams know to defend the pass out instead.

I think it was connected to the rest of the quote, that he was playmaking as a midrange scoring threat. Not running point so much, but playmaking as a scorer, which he was. We know he's pretty bad when he's asked to run point and set others up. But he can make plays for himself and others when his primary function is to score.

Regardless, the spacing is off for him. Check the spacing in the offense we used to run, back before KD and Beal.

Points in the paint will always be a problem when you have bigs that can’t finish around the rim.

Yes, we definitely need a bigger wing but our center rotation is the possibly the worst in the west? it’s the biggest thing that will hold this team back.

I love Oso but I feel he’s needs another year development before he can be an everyday rotation player. Plumlee should be a 3rd string center. Nurk…he’s problem.

I really doubt there’s trade we can make with him that doesn’t include ‘31 pick. I still like my 3 team deal with Hornets and Bulls.

Hornets- Vucevic

Bulls- Nurk, 1st from CHA via Mavs, two seconds from us

Suns- Nick Richards, Grant Williams (out for the year)

Swap negative assets with Hornets and they still get better, bulls get great compensation for Vucevic and can still tank, we don’t give up ‘31.

Another hope is this is just a terrible stretch for Nurk due to new system and nagging injuries and he’ll at least be able to give up 20-25 mins of solid center play by the end of the season and playoffs. Dont know how realistic that possibility is lol but regardless, our center rotation needs to be addressed before the deadline.

Oso needs to be in as many PnRs as possble. DHOs where he's not a 3pt pop threat does us no good and lets the double happen because his defender doesn't have to worry about him at the 3pt line. That's true of all of our bigs on the roster, but he's a guy defenses will have to account for on the roll.

My guess, KD will sit the Utah game with Dunn and Nurk back, then will be back for the Blazers game.

Grayson “fat Mac” Allen sits for both games.

Because he’s a great playmaker. He’s near career levels in assists and career lows in turnovers. As far as the spacing, I don’t think that has anything to do with the doubling…the biggest issue is no one is scared to leave our bigs.

He was off ball 2-3 seasons ago because we had Chris Paul. Tyus is great, but he does not have the shot creation ability of CP3 of 2-3 years ago. And Booker has always been doubled, he’s always one of the highest doubled players in pnr. It’s definitely not his strong suit though.
