It seems like the #1 priority for the Suns this season and offseason needs to be locking up Gillespie on a long-term contract. IMO they must also start him so he knows he will likely have a starting role when he stays. If we let him slip away in free agency it would be a catastrophic failure for the organization.

I don't know if someone posted this before but this link was a response to another tweet someone else posted here. Almost all the responses to this are brutal. How things have changed in only 18 months and I bet all those haters wish he was on their team now.

Does Gillespie want a 4 year deal? He probably only wants a 2 year deal then see if he can get even bigger contract before 30.
I think he’d take the guaranteed money…he hasn’t made anything. Maybe you give him a player option on year 4
A 4 year contract is a risk for the Suns, too. Even so, the upside is tremendous for both sides.

If he REALLY blows up...2 year contract with PO, woth the aim of giving him whatever he wants next year.

Even offensively, he is looking like a second or third option. Has there ever been a case where an asswipe defender (think Beverly or Bruce Bowen) suddenly emerges as a high volume go-to option? Tucker tried but looked bad doing it.

Check out this Evan Sidery article from 4 years ago. Brooks has always been a capable if highly inefficient scorer.

Yea Brooks has gone off before but he's been wildly inconsistent. He's been more prone to 3-17 games than what he's been doing now.

Brooks wasn’t very good in Memphis…I think everyone thought Houston way overpaid when they signed him.

He did have that playoff series against the Lakers...but I think he took upon himself to improve. And that he did.

It's great to see a team that actually likes each other.

It reminds me a lot of the 2010 team (am I right on the year?) with Dragic, Barbosa, Nash... If only Jrich boxed out that rebound...
