If we do end up trading Goran, I hope he ends up in a great situation. I can't think of a player that has been, in my opinion, more unfairly yanked around in a Suns uniform. And to his credit, has been pretty professional about it.

If we do trade Goran, it'll be so embarrassing and shameful. We had him here from the start of his career, and then he has one down season so we dump him (and GIVE UP a pick for the privilege). Then we realize how stupid that was, so we go begging him to come back, and miraculously HE DOES. He even signs arguably a very cheap contract with us, even for the time. He plays amazingly well, earning a spot on the 3rd All-NBA team and nearly becoming an all-star. So what do we do? In 2 consecutive offseasons we go get a FA that plays his same position, AND we draft a PG as well. Why!? And now we're actively shopping him, not even trying to get talent back, but to get a pick.

This is so not what the Colangeli would do. If JC/BC were still running this team, Goran would never have been traded away, and he'd retire in a Suns uniform. Same for guys like Jared Dudley and probably even Nash (though the Nash trade to the Lakers arguably helped us a lot, all things considered). It makes me sad.

I don't believe the latest Dragic rumor. Doesn't make sense on a few levels.

That Dragic rumor is by one random "journalist" in Milwaukee. Bucks fans say he has no real credibility. I would not stress out over it. Especially when we know how tight of a ship McDonough runs in regards to rumors.

Liked him coming out, still unsure why he doesn't play.
Love, Hurts.

I love when we get leaks that a player has been "made available". Really? Is any player in the NBA not "available" for the right price?

It's like a car going on sale. Not that it wasn't on sale before, but now it's priced to sell.

At this point, I'll be very disappointed if we don't make a trade. We desperately need to trim the redundancy. Three PGs on the floor to end games just doesn't cut it. That's one of the big reasons we lost the Houston game. Their guys just came over the top and grabbed the rebounds and made put backs.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

This all goes back to what I was saying. This team has no player respect league wide. Ownership situation is very much robotic, nerdy, uninteresting. I believe you can include MCDOnut in this as well. It's like hiring a Commodore 64 as your front office.

I'm not sure that's gonna happen "McMiracle" has said before that he doesn't like making big trades in the middle of the season because they hardly pan out. In my opinion, if we do make a trade it'll probably be for the future, not this current season.

I think a team who may have a firesale is the Nuggets. Brian Shaw is most likely on his way out and they have a lot of guys underacheiving. Gallanari, Chandler, Hickson, Affalo all could be moved.

If there is anyway to sneak in and claim my boy Gary Harris...I'd be pumped!

Agreed. More likely we make a trade this offseason then before the deadline. And I kind of think that's the right approach if your talking Blockbuster deals for teams in our situation.

I just looked up Wilson Chandler's stats. He's not having a good shooting year. I had a half-baked idea of trying to get Afflalo and Chandler for some of our parts. But maybe he's not worth pursuing.

For what it's worth, Afflalo is having a very similar statistical season; shooting is down across the board and not super impressive overall.

Yea Gallo is having a shitty year too. I still like Affalo, but I think he's a contenders dream. Just the type of guy who was born to play on like the Spurs. Ultimare 3 and D guy, but when asked to be "the man" can be a little too much. Wouldn't go after Chandler, but someone probabaly will.

Wonder if Faried is available? I'd think everyone on that roster is.

I read the Nuggets want a future 1st for Afflalo and it would take more than that to get Chandler, who they are quite high on (along with Lawson, Faried and Nurkic)

So the Lakers plan on offering Dragic 4 years & $80 Million? Well, that would be one reason I'd be looking to move him before Thursday... Jesus.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/12320 ... ic-sources
The Houston Rockets are plotting a renewed attempt to try to convince the Phoenix Suns to part with star guard Goran Dragic via trade before Thursday's NBA trade deadline, according to league sources.

Sources said that the Rockets, who let Dragic go in free agency in the summer of 2012 but have him high on their list of free-agent targets this coming summer, are prominent among the teams hoping to engage the Suns in serious discussions about Dragic before the league's annual trade buzzer next week.

The Los Angeles Lakers, who have also coveted Dragic for some time, are likewise presumed to be intent on testing the Suns' resolve when it comes to their Slovenian point guard, since sources say L.A. plans to chase Dragic with an expected max four-year contract offer this summer valued at an estimated $80 million.

Goran Dragic is averaging 16.2 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds this season for the Suns.
Despite the Rockets' recent acquisitions of Corey Brewer and Josh Smith, sources say they remain motivated to squeeze at least one more significant deal into this trade season, which has already seen Boston trade away Rajon Rondo (to Dallas) and Jeff Green (to Memphis) and Cleveland swing multiple deals to acquire Timofey Mozgov, Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith.

The Suns' general stance in recent weeks and months has been to rebuff all trade interest in Dragic, who is widely regarded as their best player and the closest thing they have to a face of the franchise. But sources say Phoenix has likewise been trying all season to ascertain its chances of re-signing Dragic in July and might feel some pressure to consider trade options in the coming week if fears grow that it could lose Dragic without compensation in free agency.

The Suns re-signed Eric Bledsoe to a five-year, $70 million contract late last summer and also added Isaiah Thomas to their deep backcourt in July on a three-year deal worth $27 million. Those moves have encouraged Dragic's suitors around the league to try to pry him away with various trade offers, which the Suns have roundly rejected to this point. But the presence of two other quality point guards on the roster does at least give Phoenix plenty of cover at point guard if it changes course and abruptly decides that it has to part with Dragic now or in July.

In January, Dragic told the Houston Chronicle that he wouldn't dismiss the Rockets in free agency even after they had him on the roster and then let him go, deciding that a four-year, $30 million contract offer from the Suns -- which now ranks as one of the league's best bargains -- was too rich to match.

"Oh, no," Dragic told the newspaper. "Nothing like that. "Every team in the NBA is an option to me, because it is a privilege to play for any team in the NBA. When the time comes, I'm going to sit down with my family and my agent and try to make the best decision for myself."

Last season, Dragic was seen as the league's biggest All-Star snub and eventually was named to the All-NBA third team and won the most improved player award.

But he was scarcely mentioned as an All-Star candidate this season and has publicly acknowledged some frustration this month with his long spells playing off the ball alongside two other point guards.

And that only figures to embolden teams to try to pursue Dragic via trade now, since both Bledsoe and Thomas are under contract going forward.

"I think our roster balance is a little off and that's my fault," Suns GM Ryan McDonough told 98.7 FM in Phoenix this week. "We are a little too backcourt-heavy, especially in terms of guys who, you know, I think you'd define primarily as scorers in the backcourt.

"So I think at some point we'll need to balance that out, try to get a little more size, a little more frontcourt scoring and rebounding."

‎Phoenix lost five of its last six games heading into the All-Star break and has seen its lead over No. 9 Oklahoma City dwindle to a half-game in the Western Conference playoff race.
Go Suns!
