And we failed.

For purposes of the draft, ties are broken by coin flip.Mori Chu wrote:Our current record is 39-42. We're actually only 1 game up on Utah in the loss column; they're 37-43. They can still catch/tie us. That's pretty sad. (Who'd win that tie-breaker, in terms of draft order?)
Poll: which team has a better future: utah or phoenix?Mori Chu wrote:Our current record is 39-42. We're actually only 1 game up on Utah in the loss column; they're 37-43. They can still catch/tie us. That's pretty sad. (Who'd win that tie-breaker, in terms of draft order?)
Is it even a question?SDC wrote:Poll: which team has a better future: utah or phoenix?Mori Chu wrote:Our current record is 39-42. One mini-anti-tanking idea I had is that in these situations, you give the better pick to the team that won the season series.Cap wrote:For purposes of the draft, ties are broken by coin flip.Mori Chu wrote:Our current record is 39-42. Coin flips don't go that well for the Suns do they?Cap wrote:For purposes of the draft, ties are broken by coin flip.Mori Chu wrote:Our current record is 39-42. We won a coin flip with Seattle to get Connie Hawkins.Gladiator wrote:Coin flips don't go that well for the Suns do they?
I wasn't aware of that. The Bobster wrote:We won a coin flip with Seattle to get Connie Hawkins.Gladiator wrote:Coin flips don't go that well for the Suns do they?
I am curious about the same thing. It sends a pretty bad message that as a coaching staff, you can't even fill out a lineup card correctly!djy2j wrote:Im curious to know whos job it is to do the lineup card. Albert brought it up but Eddie hushed him on the subject. Me thinks the head coach is to blame. If so then I just lost alot of respect for him. I know its a meaningless game but shows me how his focus and preparation are.
After the Suns lost their coin flip with the Bucks for the first pick in the draft (and Lew Alcindor) Connie Hawkins settled his anti-trust suit against the NBA (which had blackballed him).Superbone wrote:I wasn't aware of that. The Bobster wrote:We won a coin flip with Seattle to get Connie Hawkins.Gladiator wrote:Coin flips don't go that well for the Suns do they?

Since the NBA didn't want him to be a free agent negotiating with several teams they assigned his rights with a coin flip between the 2nd and 3rd-worst teams in the league (the Suns and Sonics), figuring the Bucks wouldn't need him since they already got their superstar in Alcindor.
So the Suns, who had gone 16-66, managed to add Neal Walk (college draft), Hawkins (special coin flip) and Paul Silas (trade) all in one offseason and became a playoff team.
