The Suns have several matchup advantages against them.
The Pels on the other hand.. Jonas generally eats Ayton's lunch and they have two elite scorers. They also tend to run more complex offensive sets while the Clippers lean on more isolation, drive and kick 3's.
In the two games Ayton missed, Jonas scored 23 points and 25 points. In the two games Ayton played, he outscored Jonas 20 to 18 and 18 to 17.
Ayton: 13-20 FG, 28 points, 17 rebounds.

They played pretty even with each other in Game 2, and I would definitely give the edge to Ayton in Game 1. Jonas had 13 mostly meaningless offensive rebounds, but other than that, Ayton totally outplayed him in the first game (4 blocks to his 0, 10-15 FG to his 7-21 FG, and overall defensive performance).Indy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:10 pmWhich game?JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:09 pmJonas: 1-5 FG, 6 points, 11 rebounds.JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 3:07 pmYou realize Ayton has improved every year he's been in the league and that he takes his game up a level in important games, right?Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 1:47 pmYou realize they've played against each other before this season, right?

"13 mostly meaningless offensive rebounds" is a WILD phrase to have in a sentence about basketball.

Why did NOP stop trapping CP3? They did it on like two screens and the ball ended up getting knocked out of bounds both times. Suns called a timeout and NOP went back to switching. The only thing I can think of is it feels like we were screening with Mikal, who was probably gonna slip it and be open in the lane. Maybe the plan was trap if Ayton set the screen, but switch everything else. I still would’ve trapped every screen.

In his defense, a decent amount of them ended up being harmless as he missed the tips. Got a little lucky though. I also think those refs let us be more physical than the last two crews. Can we have them back for game 4?
