Vindman makes a good point: People very likely have recordings of these calls. A classic example of "kompromat" that Putin has on Trump; likely Putin has a ton of stuff on him that he could release if he wanted to. All part of the plan to keep Trump in check as a loyal supplicant.

Trump keeps talking about how he wants to go after the media if he is re-elected. I assume Elon "free speech absolutist" Musk would dislike this? I keep hearing that Trump is the free speech candidate, but I don't agree if this is what he wants to do with anyone who dares criticize or defy him.

I think when I get the most glum is when I think about 45-50% of the country openly cheering for fascism and cruelty toward others. But then I have to remind myself that that's only 45-50% of the -electorate-. We have a horrible voter turnout in this country. I don't think 45-50% of the country is that lost, that evil. It's only about 20%. That is still a lot, but we may yet be able to recover and remediate.

It all depends on your media sources and who you listen to.

They put their faith in a con man and they aren’t smart enough to know they are being conned.

And that con man owns the party and this FOX News. FOX doesn’t even like him but, they cannot turn on him or they lose their base and that is much more important than our country.
