Meh. I understand his analogy of saying if you are a coach with a single philosophy and a way to play, you limit yourself. Seeing himself as a chef that has to work with the ingredients Ryan/James gives him is entirely accurate, but you would hope the guy that you bring in to install an offense and defense, and adjust it every game/quarter, would have more say in who is brought in.

All in all, he was #3 on my list to bring in (even if the first one wasn't completely realistic). I hope that our investments on stacking up assets pays off and we can let our coach make the most out of the players we have, especially considering I can't see us acquiring a great shooting, star player at 3 positions for next year through the draft/fa/trades--which is what it would take for this team to be a top tier playoff team by 2020.

Sounds like you had your mind made up. Who's to say how much influence he has on who we bring in? I have listened to all of his interviews and does say he's going to give his input. I'd much rather have a coach that is adaptable versus a coach that has his style of play and will enforce it regardless of personnel.

Indy, you’re thinking like a Binar. Just because he isn’t making the final decisions doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any say. Typically the person choosing the ingredients does consult with the chef, unless it’s a game show.
