My hope is that Paul helps elevates everyone, makes them better and helps them take that next step as basketball players, so when Paul does lose a step, the younger guys, especially Ayton, are there to carry the team so it doesn’t need the all-star version Chris Paul. Booker- Mikal- Ayton are the future of this team, Paul is here to help those three, especially Ayton, reach their potential.
That's my hope too. I'm just wondering who is going to be point guard when we're vying for a championship.
Maybe it’s still Chris Paul, similar to how Kidd was used in his final years in Dallas.

it would take a lot of luck (both good for us and bad for others). with all of the craziness this season, you never know.

That Dallas team had about 8 point guards.

lol I’m just saying I could still see Chris Paul being a productive player once he loses his all star form.

Yes, they are. But there isn't a great history of players being all-nba as a PG at 37/38. I am not saying I am not happy he is here. We just need to push all the chips in and do something now instead of just hoping running it back will work. Who knows, maybe Paul will play at an All-NBA level until he is 40.
I would be all for the trade if we had a chance at winning the championship this season or next. But I don't see that happening without another big piece.
agreed. unless this team finds a way to bring ayton to the player his physical talents could be, and mikal plays all year like he did for during that short aggressive stretch, and we get great years from the other guys. And we have some "luck" with additional injuries (nothing major for us, and major ones for others).
Like the Klay injury... Maybe I'm being a little superstitious but I feel like the Warriors had too much injury luck during their run and the law of averages are catching up to them. I don't wish injury on players, but I'd stay away from Curry in fantasy drafts...

Hey, guys. They're two different players. Nobody knows how Paul will be playing in two years. Paul doesn't have spina bifida or whatever it was Nash had either.

Spina bifida is a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don't form properly.

I worry about PG continuity after Paul is gone in 2-ish years. I wish we had a Dragic-like understudy to play with Paul and learn the ropes to eventually be his successor. Our backup guards, Payne and Carter, don't qualify. I wished we could have nabbed a young PG like Terry in the draft, but maybe we can find somebody in free agency or next offseason.

I also worry about injuries. Paul often misses stretches of games. How are we going to run our offense if he misses 10+ games this coming year?

Isn't it the same question for Book?

Thanks, OG. I learned something today. I really don't mean to make light of anybody born with SB and I still remember Al McCoy announcing on every three pointer that Suns' charities would be giving money to the Spina Bifida foundation. My bad for not looking up Nash's real condition that I do remember is related to the spine.

I guess, but Book is 24 years old, not 35; he has no major history of injuries; and we didn't just trade 2 productive players and a pick for Booker.

No sweat, 'Bone. We all know you're one of the most respectful people on the entire internet. I just wanted to give you a bit of a hard time.

As for making light of people with SB, my brother has it, and I can assure you that I have been guilty of making light of him more than once!

Back when we were kids, the doctors said he wouldn't live past his mid-30s. He turns 50 next year, and is still going strong. It makes me really happy to see how much more we can do for SB babies now. Many kids can walk that used to be stuck in wheelchairs their whole lives.

Wow! That is so awesome about your brother! And that last advance is fantastic as well.

I like the idea of Saric. A slow footed but high bball IQ guy who can space the floor, make the right reads and passes, and defends with effort and intensity.

Unfortunately it falls apart a little when he can't hit wide open 3s... If his 3% is at 40% with decent volume, he'd be drawing interest in the 12-15 mil range. I have no idea what he's going to get now. I think he's worth 8-ish? I haven't paid attention to the cap situation, but I don't want him to tie up our ability to use the full MLE.

Also why the hell are we not bringing back Baynes?
right?!?
My guess is for the best 6th man we can get. Someone who can start in case of injury. It’s fair to think that we will miss 10-15 games in sum of either Booker and/or Paul this season. A scoring PF would suffice too, I think it’s really a matter of scoring by someone who can create for themselves to some extent.

I think he'll fit in well there. They need some scoring if Klay is out for the year with an Achilles tear. Good move.

Yep. Same with Ricky to Minny. I still expect us to be better than them, but it does make it harder.

I'm not concerned about Minnesota. There is plenty of things that could go wrong with them. D'Angelo Russell struggles to shoot above 40% most nights. KAT issues with the organization still don't seem to be settled. And Ryan Saunders is still a question mark as to whether his coaching is a plus.
