I think the one deal that hurts is the Jeff Green deal in Denver. I would have loved him at that price.

Everyone else I was interested in re-signed with their own team and it doesn’t seem like we really had a chance. (Jamychal Green, Nic Batum, Noel)

I was ok with the Shamet trade when it happened, but in retrospect, I’d rather have Butler. If I knew Charlotte would rescind the QO on Monk, I’d happily have signed him instead of trading for Shamet.

What the actual hell are we doing this off-season? Seriously. I’m not expecting splashes, but we can’t even get any solid additions? Seriously?

We went in to last year with two holes that everybody on this board could point out- a lack of real guard and center depth.

We’re heading into the next year with the exact same issue.

Don’t Javale Mcgee me.

You add Javale at the end of FA after you’ve used your MLE on a legit add (?Patty Mills?? Jamychal Green?? hello???)

What in the world are we doing? It’s like we’re not even trying to make solid adds.

Don’t Jalen Smith me. Having hope in Jalen Smith developing doesn’t have to exclude you from adding good depth to your team.

If DA is out or CP3/Book miss any time, we’re screwed.
Let's be real - If CP, Book or DA miss any time we're screwed regardless. No one we sign in FA can take their place. Not Theiss, not Patty Mills, not JaMychel Green. We're maybe deeper at guard now with Shamet and Cam locked in.

Continuity. I don't doubt Sarver told Jones not to use the full MLE and that's why he used half of it on McGee to make sure he got him (he coudl get the BAE from anyone else). But we'll also have major extensions coming soon for DA and Mikal, so the payroll and tax bill is going to be high. McGee will add a different dimension to the team that will be a big boost even in limited minutes. We're not going to pay 10mil for someone to play 8-10 minutes a night or less. Fact is, Jae and Cam are our PFs and we weren't going to get a major upgrade there. And no one playing 25-30 mpg last year was going to come and take 15 off the bench here.

We took a non-rotational player (Carter) and added one of the better 3pt shooters in the league in Shamet. We weren't going to get a rotational player at 29 most likely. So there's that.

Elfrid sucks. I really don't like him. But he's a legit vet at his point with starting experience and I do think he may get some starts this year in place of CP3. How good he'll actually be remains to be seen.

And let's keep in mind - we added a big addition in Craig in the middle of the season. You don't know who/what can shake out during the season that we can add. The roster right now isn't locked in all the way until the end of next season.

Last I saw, Elfrid still hasn't agreed to an offer with the Suns.

I actually think our offseason has been pretty good so far. Paul agreed to a reasonable multi-year deal. Cam Payne signed with us for what most folks agree is a bargain price. We kept Nader at a cheap contract; I like him for forward depth. We pick up Shamet rather than drafting an unproven 19-year-old for backup guard depth. And we sign JaVale as a tall defensive big man off the bench, who would have been sorely needed in this past playoffs. I think each signing is defensible at worst; the Shamet one I'm not sure about, but I will give him a chance.

The only real missing signing is a backup PF. I wonder if we're still working on that one. My guess is we'll sign that guy cheap in the coming weeks. Signing Kaminsky to come back for one year cheap is fine with me, but I would still want to add one more PF if possible.

Just a total prediction but Cam Johnson is the BACKUP 4 now we have more size at the back up 5. I think we’re underestimating how much run Javale is gonna get off the bench that will help our wings rebound better and defend. We won’t need a traditional 4 to sub. It worked pretty well last year without much size, I think now it will be better. Just like we’ll always see some combo of Book, CP3, or Cam Payne it will be with Bridges, Crowder, or Cam Johnson. At least in the playoffs that’s how I think it will end up.
It remains to be seen how many minutes Stix, Shamet,Nader, and Frank will earn in the regular season rotation.

Wow......

This been a running joke for years now that it is basically impossible that talks don't start before the actual day. NBA investigating and looking to fine or void transactions would be quite something

Or we could pick him up during the season a la Craig.

Some things to watch for in SL and heading into next season. A few of these could affect CP and Book

It's just Sarver's cheapness coming through yet again. He's keeping the team together (at least until next summer...who knows what's happening with extensions for Ayton and Bridges), but he won't spend what it takes to actually improve the roster.
So tired of this take. Give it a rest.

Unless it is one of “big name” stars. Then it will remain the same.

I like the idea of these changes. I just hope they do it.

I think all of those plays should be no-call, play on. I get why they're trying to enforce them as offensive fouls, but players wouldn't try them if there wasn't any whistle at all. Making them offensive fouls is just going to slow down the game, which is the real problem at hand.

I also don't completely agree with penalizing shooters for kicking out their leg on jump shots. A lot of jump shots aren't straight up and down motions. There's an element of physics and momentum on some of those shots where a guy is trying to balance themselves in the air after sprinting into a jump shot, especially one that's naturally causing them to fade away.

Dillon Brooks does seem to add a little extra to the end so maybe that's the one I'd be OK with calling a foul, but it's such a fine line that we're going to once again not be addressing the problem of disturbing the flow of the game with officiating. Just don't call anything unless it's egregiously unnatural.

I like the changes, especially the jump sideways into the defender to draw a foul one.

I still think if a player flops it should be a technical. 2 and you’re ejected.
