Re: The Democrats
Santos was a slimeball, and it's good that he's out.
Re: The Democrats
Sen. Menendez was bribed with gold bars and luxury cars and charged with being a foreign agent for Egypt and Qatar
Rep. Swalwell slept with a Chinese spy
Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled a fire alarm to obstruct a Congressional proceeding
Rep. Ilhan Omar admitted that she is really working for Somalia on tape last month
0 Democrats voted for expel any of them
There are a lot of slimeballs in Congress.
Rep. Swalwell slept with a Chinese spy
Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled a fire alarm to obstruct a Congressional proceeding
Rep. Ilhan Omar admitted that she is really working for Somalia on tape last month

Re: The Democrats
A large number of Congressional Dems have called on Menendez to resign. They can't force him out, but it's not like the party doesn't care.In2ition wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 7:38 amSen. Menendez was bribed with gold bars and luxury cars and charged with being a foreign agent for Egypt and Qatar

The other examples you gave are either minor or wrong. Bowman's fire alarm stunt was bad, but not worthy of expulsion from Congress. Omar did not say she is "really working for Somalia"; that is based on a mistranslation and is a false partisan attack. Swalwell didn't know that he was romantically involved with a foreign agent, and when he found out, he cooperated with investigations into the matter. Do you really want people expelled from Congress for things like this?

Bowman's stunt was obstruction of Congress, but no one is going hold his feet to the fire.
I'm really curious if Omar's translation was actually mistranslated. She said she is first loyal to Somalia, no?
Swalwell thinks he's entitled to be on the Intelligence committee, which is laughable when taking into account his history with this honeypot.

Re: The Democrats
No. It's fake outrage by GOP hacks who don't like her. It is a complete nothing burger.

Republican lawmakers and commentators questioned U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s allegiance to the United States — even calling for her to be deported — over a video clip with an inaccurate translation of her remarks from Somali to English.
Social media posts have asserted Omar said they are “people who know they are Somalians first, Muslims second.”
Neither of the Reformer’s translations show she said “Somalians first, Muslims second.”
Indeed, the term “Somalian” is not used by Somalis, who prefer the term “Somali.”
A devout Muslim like Omar would have faced outrage from the largely Muslim audience had she placed her religion second, according to one translator.
During the remarks in question, Omar spoke of the unity of the Somali people: “Somalis are people who love each other. It’s possible that we might sometimes have disagreements but we are also people who can rely on each other. We are people who are siblings. We are people with courage. We are people who know that they are Somali and Muslim. We are people who support each other.”

Re: The Democrats
Yes, they can and should. It takes a two thirds vote, same as the House: https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-pro ... ulsion.htmIn2ition wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 9:32 amThey can't force Menendez out? Re: The Democrats
^ This is a completely misleading tweet. The robocall had a fake AI Biden voice telling people not to vote, or telling them the wrong day to vote, etc. The robocall seems to have been set up by some weirdo who used to be a magician (?) and he was paid to do it by a campaign aide of Dean Phillips, the longshot challenger to Biden. When you say "Dem operative" it makes it sound like it's some Biden CoNsPiRaCy BS.

Just click on the tweet, and it says it was Dean Philips guy. Maybe the truncation was misleading.

Re: The Democrats
If SCOTUS rules that it’s up to Congress to decide on January 6th, then that settles it. They must follow that Constitutional process. If Congress then determines that Trump is constitutionally ineligible, then Tim Scott (or whoever is the Vice President elect) will serve as President “until a President shall have qualified.” (https://constitution.congress.gov/brows ... section-3/)In2ition wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:32 pmAnd here I thought that democracy was so important to the Dems. There is no destruction of democracy in that scenario. In fact, the way the Vice President is elected nowadays, it would be the exact same people voting for Tim Scott as voting for Donald Trump. Scott would be the democratically elected acting President.

Re: The Democrats
This was interesting. I hadn't heard about this one until just now. Might hear about it soon, if the courts get off their backsides.

Re: The Democrats
I love AOC, and this interview with her is insightful as usual.
Re: The Democrats
Sinema announces she will NOT be running for Senate in 2024. This is good news for AZ Dems because she was threatening to split the Dem vote and could have led to a Kari Lake win in AZ.
Re: The Democrats
I guess she made enough money and pissed off enough Dems.

Re: The Democrats
Political views aside, Sinema was awful. She promised one set of things, got elected, and then behaved entirely differently. All while shamelessly buddying up to donors, lobbyists, special interest groups, basically anybody who would give her money. She became a corrupt swamp creature. The Dems of AZ are absolutely right to reject her.
