As always, you guys are downplaying Shamet's contributions to this team. That dunk over Hayes was a momentum changer for the whole game. The beginning of Hayes losing his mind. And man did he lose it. Could it have BEEN any more blatant? <Chandler Bing> Idiot.
Props to BG bringing up little man Ayton Jr. meaning a big game from daddy. Ayton was huge for us. Even Mark Jones on the ESPN broadcast mentioned Ayton Jr. being a factor.

I got jazz fans telling me Rudy is just as good offensively as Ayton…asked them to tell me how many of these plays Rudy could make…think the answer is 2 out of 10
During his "All-star" years (last 3 years), Gobert scored 1.87 points per FGA.
During this year for Ayton, he is only at 1.43 points per FGA.
So I can see where Utah fans that never watch Ayton say things like "if Gobert took as many shots as Ayton he would score like that too!!" but it just shows they clearly never watch Ayton.
And if you look at Per 100 Possessions info, Ayton's worst year (23.3) is about the same as Gobert's best (23.9 Pts). As a career, Ayton is at 25.6 and Gobert is 20.9.

Ya it’s like Deandre Jordan with the Clippers. Sure your efficiency is gonna look great when all you do is dunk, but those are often easy shots to prevent depending on scheme. Rudy very commonly will only take 3 or 4 shots in a game.

Gobert doesn't make you guard him outside if the paint. Ayton does. That's the biggest difference.

Good point. And probably more accurate to say "outside of the restricted area" because Gobert only takes 18% of his shots more than 3 feet from the hoop. He doesn't even make you guard him in the paint; only at the rim.
Code: Select all

Gobert 79.7 18.3 1.7 0.3

Ayton's a max player if he's going to play with that intensity, initiative, and creativity. I hope he brings it again in Game 4.

Shamet was good in the first half but pretty bad in the second

I like the moves the Suns made. They punished the Pels inside with our big men. They started defending Ingram better knowing he always goes right. They crashed the boards more.

That might have forced him left only once all game. He was killing us with that move and scored a game high 34 points on only 19 shots--and only missed one shot the entire 4th quarter.

That stat is gross but it goes to show the Suns are the better team when they can still win in that situation. A lot of guys are due for a hot night shooting, but I think the wiser thing is to continue to focus on working the ball to Ayton and McGee. Defense and points in the paint can make up for bad shooting.
Monty started Cam J and then Shamet to begin the 3rd. I hope he sticks with Cam in that role over Shamet. Cam's size is good to start the game, and I don't trust Payne to be the bench scorer so Shamet will be needed there again.

They all get hot and cold during the season. Gotta find the hot hand.
