Honestly it doesn't matter. Either he is declining, or he always has some injury issues, or both. None of those situations helps the team improve or even maintain the level of play we've seen the last two seasons.
The multiple players with covid + Monty played more Cowbell. And I’m going with that. Rotations sucked on offense, guys weren’t sharply helping and Monty just failed to adjust . The whole team looked like hot shit. It makes sense. IDK why act like it’s all that mysterious. Not everyone can have a Jordan “flu” game. I’m glad they’re hunting for KD. CP3 just needs to be a 25 mpg guy.
Except it wasn’t just game 7. Everyone points to game 7. It should never have gone 7. Game 3, 4 and 6 were awful. We didn’t look right the entire postseason. We didn’t look right rolling into the playoffs. Our defense took a dive the latter half of the regular season.
Our entire energy changed when Book went down with the hamstring, and he never got fully back. It is not a good sign when our two best players have a history of playoff injuries...

Truth. They definitely peaked at the wrong time. IDK, I sure as shit hope Monty has it figured out now what he would do differently. Hopefully we won’t be just running it back. Changes and player development are needed. I have a feeling however teams are still going to try to play big in the playoffs. Denver if healthy are gonna be tough too.
Did we ever hire a X's and O's coach to replace Willie Green? Losing him really hurt the Suns in the playoffs.
I think Jarrett Jack replaced Willie Green…but I think Kevin Young is supposed to be more of our X’s and O’s guy.
Yeah I didn't think of Willie as our X/O guy. I thought he was our assistant head coach. I think of him as more of a natural leader than a bball strategy guy. Maybe I am wrong there.
He seemed to be the better X/O guy when we met his team in the playoffs.

I agree we did look out coached, but it isn't a 1v1 match up and, again, our best player was out for 3.5 of the 6 games.
Tell Ayton to shoot more threes and let's find out.
They have been telling him to do that for 3 years. He just doesn't.
How do you know?
They keep saying it. And the entire staff and teammates say they want him taking more shots.
About threes? I haven't seen that.
I haven't seen it, but I have heard it a lot on Kellan's podcast and on the Timeline podcast.

Monty did have a quote, I think back in 2020, about how he wasn't keeping Ayton from shooting 3s. That was back when Ayton's practicing of the shot was getting a little buzz in Suns media.

Doesn’t look like his shot is worth more than when he has wide open looks. Maybe 2-3 3pt attempts per game. That thing doesn’t look fluid enough to get up if defended. Honestly teams will probably give him the whole year to let if fly of open. If they ever stay up on him, does he have the handle to blow by a defender?

He averages 1 attempt every 4 games. If he could just get to 1 a game it would help draw the defense out. And no, he likely doesn't have the handles to get by anyone that far away from the hoop. But he has shown an ability to hit open cutters.

I agree. I doubt he avgs past that next season. And I doubt he will draw out defenses unless he shoots a higher clip.
He’s a long way off from here…

We don't need/want him to be taking even 2 a game, much less the 5 a game that KAT took (and honestly should take more!).

The elephant in the room...
...so, it appears KD is less and less likely, so let's look at a different question. I still feel that our biggest problem is too great a reliance on Chris. I think we need a 'damn good' vs. 'adequate' backup at point. Anyone got any ideas on finding a rabbit here? If Rubio hadn't already landed elsewhere, that would have been my choice...

What about either Eric Bledsoe or D'Angelo Russell?

That video is from March 2021. His shot has improved a lot since then.

Jenner Booker are back baby! She was probably just waiting for him to sign the max and it be official.
