I found this interesting. It's the transcript of Trump's deposition in his case in NY about financial fraud and over/undervaluing his assets for loan and tax fraud purposes. Pretty interesting to read what he does and what excuses he makes.

As someone who’s done litigation appraisal work…. He’s screwed. There’s only 3 approaches to value when it comes to determining value…. Cost, income and market. Never learned the “trump” approach. He is a unique scenario for sure but assure you there’s ways to determine his properties values but do think they’d really have to broaden their way to determining his properties values by looking at other world leaders assists and what effect they had on the market. There’s various abstraction methods that could be applied but could be figured out. Now if trump wanted to prove his value… list some properties and see if and what they sell for. That deal would have to be heavily scrutinized to make sure it’s legit.

Good read… thanks Marty.

It seems most of his overvaluation came from him claiming everything was worth a lot more because he owned it.

I can’t believe banks loaning out millions of dollars would just take his word on values and not do their own assessments.

They probably assumed he’s a president and a stand up guy…. They assumed wrong and will be the ones taking the loss later.

It looks like a lot of his valuations were including future possible developments on the properties, instead of an assessment of what they were actually worth at the current time. Lol.

Can you imagine if county tax assessments worked that way for every empty lot?

Right?! Was bad enough with just all the real estate speculators back in 2008, that would have been a nightmare.

^ I worry that efforts to ban Trump from the ballot are counterproductive. I personally think he's a traitor and an insurrectionist and should not ever hold office again, but I think if you literally evict him from the ballot, his supporters will go absolutely ballistic and say that it's a deep state conspiracy to stop the people from getting to vote for their President. And it's weird if just a few states block him but the others don't; why is he able to win Nevada or California, but not Arizona or Michigan? I realize he did some of his most egregious post-election behaviors in those states, but it just seems weird to me to have a candidate be banned in only a few places. I think they should generally not pursue this, unless maybe he's convicted of actual felonies related to overturning the election.

I saw that Greg Sargent in WaPo did an article about these same efforts to block Trump from the Presidential ballot in some states.

Non Trump voters will welcome this. Trump voters will be upset of course. I would prefer if Trump was on the ballot in 50 states and lost by a huge margin. The law stating no one can run for office if they were part of an insurrection does fit Trump like a glove.

Trump lost the civil defamation/rape trial against E. Jean Carroll a short while ago and the court ordered him to pay her $5 million in damages. The very next day Trump went on CNN and repeated the same bs that got him in trouble in the first place. Her lawyers went right back to court to file a complaint.

A federal judge ruled that the jury hearing E. Jean Carroll’s defamation lawsuit will only need to decide how much money Donald Trump will have to pay her, after the judge found the former president was liable for making defamatory statements.

Because of that there won’t be another trial, the judge is just going to tack on more money for Trump donors to pay in damages. I guess Trump doesn’t care. It’s not his money. Trump’s Save America PAC has and will continue to pay all Trumps legal bills for him.

What about people like Rudy Giuliani who sold their soul for Trump and are now in deep legal trouble because of their loyalty to him? How much is Trumps super PAC Save America giving to pay for Rudy’s legal bills. Of course we all know the answer to this already. Zero. Rudy has met with Trump and begged for help. Rudy’s son has met with Trump and begged.

In fact, Giuliani and his allies have been lobbying Trump to cover his legal bills for years. They argue it’s the least Trump could do since all the legal work Giuliani performed for him was pro bono. But Trump has been adamant that he doesn’t want Giuliani to be paid for his legal services, and apparently hasn’t even told him why — though the Times reports that Trump has told aides it’s because Giuliani is a loser:

I think Rudy is going to flip on Trump soon. Rudy like Cohen was willing to step in front of a speeding bus for Trump. Trump demanded their loyalty and when the time came he shoved them both in front of the bus. If Rudy never got mixed up with Trump he probably would have gone down as an American hero. Instead he will be thought of as a traitor and an idiot by a good portion of America who got hung out to dry by his cult leader. Trump never paid Rudy for any of the work he did for him and now Rudy is screwed with a mountain of legal fees, disbarment and the threat of jail. It seems dumb for Trump to crap all over Rudy when Rudy could do some real damage to Trump on the witness stand. Then again we are talking about Trump.

Trump stiffed his alleged co-conspirators, whose false claims brought in $250 million
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/08/15/trump-a ... -team.html
Several of former President Donald Trump’s allies, including Rudy Giuliani, who are now facing criminal charges for helping him try to overturn the results of the 2020 election were never paid by the Trump political operation for work they did in late 2020.

Several of the attorneys who spearheaded President Donald Trump’s frenzied effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election tried, and failed, to collect payment for the work they did for Trump’s political operation, according to testimony to congressional investigators and Federal Election Commission records. This is despite the fact that their lawsuits and false claims of election interference helped the Trump campaign and allied committees raise $250 million in the weeks following the November vote, the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot said in its final report.

The money came in response to countless fundraising appeals that claimed it was needed to fund Trump’s election challenges in court.

Yet instead of paying the lawyers who tried unsuccessfully to overturn his loss, the money went into Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America, according to the select committee.

Among them was Trump’s closest ally, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Trump and Giuliani had a handshake agreement that Giuliani and his team would get paid by the Trump political operation for their post-election work, according to Timothy Parlatore, an attorney for longtime Giuliani ally Bernard Kerik.

But the Trump campaign and its affiliated committees ultimately did not honor that pledge, according to campaign finance records. The records show that Giuliani’s companies were only reimbursed for travel and not the $20,000 a day he requested to be paid.

One can only hope…. If I’m Rudy, I better get an amazing security detail because there is destined to be some nutbag maga supporter that will try to take him out.

This just made me laugh. Mike Lindell of MyPillow during a deposition, being asked about whether his pillows are "lumpy." He gets mad.
