That's sad. He had plenty of critics, but I thought he was hilarious. Loved the game, didn't take himself too seriously, and had fun in the broadcast booth. I'll miss his contributions.

That is super sad; I loved his commentary, especially on Pac-12 basketball games. I met him once at the Tucson Airport and I was just going to ask for a quick picture with him, but since we were on the same flight, we actually chatted at the gate for like 20 minutes about Tucson and the UofA in general, and of course, Arizona hoops since his son was on the team at the time. Truly gracious and friendly and one of a kind. And I'll never forget getting on my Southwest flight afterwards and seeing poor Bill crammed into a front row seat.

He went in the normal gate and entrance like everybody else, frequently getting recognized and chatted up the other fans. He was kind, patient, and friendly to everybody, and he had a big smile on his face the whole time. Seemed like a really genuinely nice guy.

Bill Walton has died today. He was only 71.

The older I've gotten, the more I've appreciated him.

I always loved the way he polayed basketball. I consider him the best college player I ever saw play (having started watching basketball just a few years prior).

When I was young I didn't understand the stances he took in his personal life, but the more I learned about Vietnam and the government the more I understood.

When he became a color commentator I found his hyperbole a little cringy at times, but you could tell he loved the game.

We should all be fortunate enough to have as full a life as Walton did, Whether it was basketball, bicycling or broadcasting, he was always "all in."

You can tell he genuinely like people. He had plenty of reasons to be bitter over the criticism he took as a player, and activist and a broadcaster, and certainly over his phycical maladies, but it didn't seem to affect his outlook on life.

I'm with you. I found him hilarious as well. In fact, I think he was THE GREATEST BASKETBALL COLOR COMMENTATOR IN THE HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION!!!

Yep, that's the one. I enjoyed the documentary, and got some new insight into what made him tick.

If a team "violates" a "restriction" against having access to the MLE they bump up an apron level? Makes no sense to me.

It’s a weird way to say it, but I think he’s saying if a team does any of those things they will be hard capped at the respective apron.

Nice player but IMO it would be a big mistake to give this guy so much money.

I know this is the NBA, not WNBA, section. But I guess Caitlin Clark has received a bit of a rough reception in the league so far? What's the deal? Are other players annoyed at the amount of attention and hype Clark has gotten? Has Clark herself talked too much trash or been too cocky and upset the other players?

It’s ridiculous. I think it comes down to pure jealousy. The penalty for that needs to be very harsh to send a message that garbage won’t be tolerated. Suspend her 10 or 20 games and see how often it happens in the future. Whether they like it or not Caitlin Clark is their cash cow and she has to be protected.

If you ever want proof of women being jealous creatures, just look how the wnba is treating their golden goose.

They should probably ask for the death penalty too for an egregious attack like that.
