I think by definition "everybody involved" includes Goran.

Exactly. What does that do for us in 2018-2019? Honestly, that is the earliest I can see us being anything above a 1-and done in the playoffs. And 33 year old Horford or a 30 year old Batum doesn't move the needle enough for that team. They would help us be just good enough to move back to picking 14th again...

Signing Barnes would be just the absolute worst move we could make considering what he'll command.

Couldn't agree more. He's terrific for what he is at the Warriors, but isn't close to being a 1st or 2nd option on a good/great team. I like Batum as a player, but he's getting on and always seems to be playing hurt. Horford makes no sense for us. Assuming Durant doesn't want to come here (fairly safe assumption, I think) there don't appear to be any of the top-tier free agents that make sense for the Suns

Yeah, we don't need to be just good enough to make the playoffs in the short term. We need to build a young core over a few years. Will Sarver and crew ever learn?

Which is like an extra 10% profit for a year. Not a small amount. We are talking about an extra 1-2 million dollars just to lose in the first round.

I don't mind Horford or Batum, since they actually play positions of need for us and are good character guys. I really dislike Barnes. I have said so before. I watch a decent amount of Warriors ball, and Barnes is the kind of guy who just disappears for entire games. Absolutely not worth big money. He's the #4 guy on a great team on his best day. Seems like kind of an idiot, a Jeff Green / Rashard Lewis hybrid with short arms and who, while being athletic, doesn't seem to really use that athleticism to his advantage much.

We don't need a SF. We already have someone as good as Barnes and we refuse to start him for PJ freakin' Tucker. Giving Batum (or Barnes) a max deal and planting him in front of Warren is maybe the dumbest thing we can do this Summer outside of blowing all our cap on Dwight Howard or something. Horford makes a modicum of sense because he could once and for all play his natural position of PF and do it for the rest of his career if he so chooses.

I posted this on another forum but in case anyone cares here is a list of FAs for next season.
Guys that will be UFAs or have a player option they will likely turn down to become a UFA: Durant, LBJ, Whiteside, DeRozan, Conley, Horford, Howard, Wade, Gasol, Parsons, Dirk, Rondo, Batum, Big Al, Ryno, Noah, Biyombo, E. Turner, Lin, Bazemore, and Deng.

The only guys that we could potentially get that make sense for the team are Horford, Batum (maybe not that much sense though as I wrote above,) and Ryno.

Here's a list of RFAs: Drummond, Beal, Barnes, Clarkson, Ezili, Fournier, and Sullinger.

Only player on the entire list I'd be interested in is Noah IF we trade Chandler and IF we can sign him at a discount as a veteran big. Otherwise, I'm totally fine sitting out free agency other than making some value signings.

Sad state of affairs if you think about it. A 15/7 pg (aside from his 1 great year) is highlight of your team, just eww.
Love, Hurts.

Sad indeed. But why would I left his monster season out? No interest in flagellating myself. That season is 90% of what makes the point and it was amazing to watch.

Don't want Horford. Won't help us enough by himself. The team should go the opposite direction, but it is not going to happen. Dump vets, acquire future picks, develop the future. The FO has taken a couple of shots at winning the FA game and it has not worked out. Actually it's been a disaster. Go the kids route at least one more season.

Kinda nervous we will try to sign someone/anyone just so can say hey a free agent chose to come here. Hoping they count resigning our own restricted free agents as that so we don't go wasting money this offseason.

Mark West spoke the NY Post about Hornacek and pretty much summed up what we all know about his time as coach here. Thought it was kind of interesting for a FO exec to speak to another beatwriter about a former coach and (more or less) put the blame on the organization.
