That really fucking sucks.

A few days ago, some of my first thoughts of the day after waking up were related to the Suns because I'm a nut job, but that time I started worrying about a potential injury to a Suns player between now and the end of the Finals.

I thought about that because most teams have to endure a debilitating injury this time of the year and the Suns have been mostly healthy. I also thought about it because it's the Suns and something bad always happens, so I've been mentally preparing myself.

Then Bill Fucking Simmons talks about the Suns historical bad luck for half of a whole podcast just to tie a bow on my paranoia.

Get well, Jamal.

If Murray is out for the rest of the season, that could completely change how the playoffs turn out. I thought the Nugs had a great chance to go to the WCF again this year. But not if he's out. Hope he'll be okay.

Stephen Curry became the Warriors all-time leading scorer passing Wilt Chamberlain last night.

Curry - 745 games, 17,818 points, 25.1 PPG
Wilt - 429 games, 17,783 points, 41.5 PPG

Steph is such a great player. But, man, Wilt's numbers are crazy. Wilt shot 55% from the FT line, and still made twice as many as Curry shooting 90%. How about one season playing 48.5 minutes per game. It's like it's not even real.

Of course, Curry has more than twice as many playoff points for the Warriors.

Wilt's lowest scoring average for a season with the Warriors was 36.9 PPG.

Wilt Chamberlain broke the basketball record books. You almost have to exclude him when you look up any scoring, rebounding, etc. record. The season where he averaged over 50 ppg and 25 rpg is a record that will NEVER be broken.

That sucks for Murray. I hope he comes back full strength.

Interested to see what they do
I think Monte Morris is one of the best backup pgs in the league, not sure how he will do as a full time starter. Campazzo is stable guard too but they are small for sure

Find this to be an interesting take

It will hurt, but it won't be a mortal wound, imo. They have the guys to be able to withstand this. Jokic is their primary distributor, and MPJ has stepped up as a secondary scorer for them.

Yea agreed on their offense, Joker for sure will keep things flowing
I was looking at the Gary Harris n Craig take in the tweet as now with Murray also out their guards are small and no real defenders. Maybe PJ Dozier role increase cause he did well in the bubble

You're right. Not having Harris, Craig, and now Murray are all going to take a toll.

Rough for Denver...probably shifts them to being the unlucky team in the top 5 that won’t advance. They’ll most likely get Lakers in 1st round anyways.

With this news, how do we rank the teams we want to face/don't want to face in the West 1-10?

my updated list:

most preferred
  • Warriors
  • Pels
  • Spurs
  • _
  • Memphis
  • Portland
  • Dallas
[big gap]
  • Denver
  • Utah
  • _
  • Clippers
  • Lakers (especially in round 1/2)
least preferred

I still think Denver will be a tough out. It might force them to play through Jokic even more, and he is amazing.

That looks about right, I’d probably put Dallas in the tier with Portland and move Memphis back a tier. I’d rather face Portland than dallas as well, but it’s close.

I debated that quite a bit. We have a great record against them, but the more I think about it, the more I am worried about what the refs will do with Luka in the playoffs.

Ya and I just don’t think Portland is very good. They don’t defend at all. They have the offense to win a series, but I feel confident we can beat them. I like our chances against Dallas too, but Luka is scary. If KP shows up and plays like he’s capable of, they could be a very tough opponent. They’ve played better as of late.

No disrespect to Wilt but wasn't he playing against a ton of non athletic 6ft7 white stiffs during his dominance? Not sure he'd put up nearly the same numbers in the more modern NBA including the 80s onwards.
