That would have to be a sign and trade which we can’t do

Um, he couldn't agree to sign for less now and as his top line increases we top it later? Mmmm, no, the league couldn't stop him from agreeing to lesser money with some belief we'd make it up to him at some future date. By contract, no...of course...but if he wanted to take the risk, he could. There would be no way to get a contract or guarantee...that would be the nature of the beast.

So you're advocating for salary cap violations that would be tremendously easy to uncover?

You mean what Jerry did with Manning? :P

Its doable...its up to Kyle being to willing that ultimately trust he'd get his due. The Padre is right, that was exactly what we did w/Danny...which was in potential the best team we ever had until Frankenstein Joe decided to trash his other knee...still makes me sick.

He’d have to sign for the minimum and play at that for two years. Year 3 we could get him to mid level range. Then year 4 we could pay him whatever.

It’d be easier for him to sign with another team and demand a trade here. I also don’t really want Kuzma anymore. He doesn’t make much sense with Beal on board.

Nope, Suns need some grit now, a guy like Steven Adams would be ideal. Even Jae could be useful.

Adams averaged 3.4 points and 6.4 rebounds in the playoffs last year. And you all thought Ayton underperformed?

Can you imagine the meltdown on here if Ayton had a stat line like this in game 1 of the playoffs? 24 minutes, 0 points, 3 rebounds, 0 blocks, 0 steals, 4 fouls in a 13-point loss.

I don't think Adams is the answer either.

No, that hard caps you at the 1st apron(169ish million). We are well over that(or will be with a full roster) so any sign and trade would be illegal

I agree that that is a horrible trade.

Who would ever have guessed that we would trade Trevor Ariza to the Wizards…and end up with Bradley Beal?

I don't understand why you make comparisons like this Jeremy. First of all, if you're getting Tyus Jones in the deal, it isn't just about comparing Ayton to Adams. Secondly, Adams isn't a max player; Ayton gets paid the max. Third, Adams has a completely different skillset: he is an enforcer, a dirtworker, and a solid passer.

And I am not even advocating for the deal. Your response just doesn't really make sense.

Simple. I’m not looking to downgrade our center. And I don’t think Vogel is either.

Vogel wants the best team possible. He isn't playing fantasy basketball and only looking to replace Ayton with someone who averages more than 18/10.

And Vogel isn't the GM. Jones has never approached trades or even drafting based solely on stats or a one-to-one comparison.
