Re: All Things Ayton
5 guys say same thing, 1 guy disagrees, goes and searches high and low to find some publication nobody takes seriously that agrees with him and then passes it off as gospel to anyone who disagrees. Rinse repeat.

Needs to be rinse and repeated way more if we’re going to get to our goal of 200 pages before the start of the season.

DA doesn’t bang them either, he shies away from contact remember. He just asks them to tickle him

Re: All Things Ayton
Someone go find me any player ranking from any publication that ranks WCJ above DA.

Re: All Things Ayton
Most publications has Tatum above Booker but idgaf what anyone says, that is not true.
Re: All Things Ayton
No. This is the Ayton thread, not the WCJ thread, so I don’t appreciate you all trying to change the subject.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Gonna unmute for this response, I don't need a publication to tell me what to see when I can fully see what's happening on the court. Some writers opinion isn't going to sway me, just like the all years of people asking if Booker was good or not, it's right there in front of you, whether you choose to see it or not, that's not my problem.

Re: All Things Ayton
WCJ was higher in Bill Simmons trade value rankings(though both were in the honorable mention section). Funny enough, Bol Bol is higher than both in the toughest omissions section
Re: All Things Ayton
Trade value does not = better player.

Re: All Things Ayton
You said any player ranking. It’s a player ranking. And we’re talking about trading Ayton for WCJ, so I think a trade value ranking is very appropriate.
Re: All Things Ayton
Lol you're the one moving the goalposts. The original point was whether WCJ is a better player, not just a better fit or better value. Thus, "any player ranking" obviously refers to a ranking of talent.

Re: All Things Ayton
No the original argument was wanting to trade Ayton for WCJ. I do think WCJ was just straight up a better player last year, but if you bring value into the equation it’s an easy decision for me. Give me WCJ and whatever we can get with the extra 15 million to match salaries.
Re: All Things Ayton
Nobody is saying that Ayton is a completely worthless bum who shouldn't be on an NBA roster. (Well, specialsauce might be saying that.) What Ayton critics have said is that he isn't worth a max contract, that we would do better to have a different center, even a somewhat inferior one, on a cheaper contract because that would be better asset management and would allow us to spend that cap space on other helpful players. So yeah, a guy like WCJ being ahead of Ayton on a trade value list doesn't mean WCJ is "better" than DA, but it does get right to the heart of the issue: If you could snap your fingers and swap Ayton for WCJ, including taking on WCJ's cheaper contract, would you do it? WCJ is on a 4yr, $50m contract ($12.5m / year average); that's an absolute steal compared to Ayton's max salary. I'd make that swap in a second.

I was on record as being all for matching any contract offer he got. I don’t believe in losing assets for nothing. I just don’t think he’s worth the salary he gets paid and I have no faith that he will ever develop the right genetic makeup to produce in ways that justify his contract for our team.
I want him gone, but I don’t want him gone at any cost like I did with CP3 or Kelly Oubre.
Re: All Things Ayton
Are you saying you’d swap DA for WCJ and expiring contracts, or are you assuming the $18M salary difference means we’d be getting other key players in the trade?Mori Chu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 1:09 pmIf you could snap your fingers and swap Ayton for WCJ, including taking on WCJ's cheaper contract, would you do it? I meant in a fantasy world where we didn't have to match the salaries for cap purposes and could just trade player-for-player.
