But Booker's right. The fans are really bad right now. Sure, the team is bad. But other bad teams have better fan turnout and better fan support. Even when we are good, we get as many fans of the other team as Suns fans in the crowd. It's unfortunate.

I think there has been a lot of fans that have been highly disappointed with the team and it seemed the outlook of the team looked bleak. When you have a team that you can't even see hope for the future, it wears on you. Also, Phoenix isn't the absolute best for long time fans, since a large number of the population came from elsewhere and brought their fandom with them. I think you will see a turnaround, as the Suns absolutely have hope now with the young players that are developing nicely.

I was at the game against OKC, where there were a good number of OKC fans in the lower bowl. People wanted to see history, and many Westbrook fans were in the building. I don't think that Booker was calling out the Suns fans, but more he was calling out any fans of outside teams that come in. I like this about Booker, as he has a little dog in him and wants to disappoint every fan of another team that comes to watch a game in Phoenix. He wants to beat their A$$.

A large segment of Phoenix sports fans are bandwagoners simply because so many "locals" have migrated from other places and are either first or second generation Phoenicians. I also don't have a problem with fans attending fewer games because the organization hasn't consistently put out a worthwhile product for about the last decade. Not to mention the toxic things I've heard from people working for the organization on the business/marketing side.

Organizational culture is really important for medium sized market teams in places like Phoenix with all 4 major sports because the fans need to know they can trust the ownership to make the most out of the exorbitant prices the demand for their product. We saw this for decades with the Cardinals and Bill Bidwell. I was a Cardinals fan growing up, but the only time I went to see a game was to watch their opponents. The Suns have been trending that way ever since alienating and eventually trading Dragic.

They've been given a lifeline with Booker, but they can't screw it up or it could cause the fans to be a reason why he eventually chooses to leave.

And the Cardinals of the era were a pathetic joke. I mean, a truly exceptional kind of pathetic. This was a franchise that hadn't won a playoff game since 1947, and hadn't even been to the playoffs in a non-strike year since 1975.

Has there ever been another franchise in major American professional sports that went over a half a century without a playoff win?

This was news to me. I had thought that people that worked for the organization liked Sarver and that there was a good organizational culture there. Is that not the case?
