He didn't like sitting last year. I hope he likes it now by his own actions.Wormwood wrote:From what I'm hearing, Bled likely won't be traded until at least December 15th, and then up to the deadline. We're in no hurry to move him.
AT this point, expiring contracts and draft picks is where I'd like this to go. Or, a salary cap dump of Bled + Knight. Neither will ever play here again.

I figure anything we can get out of him from here on out is gravy since we've all pretty much written him off.

It's possible that a half-decent showing on the court next season would make him tradeable as a reclamation project for other team. The Bobster wrote:Thank you for using the sarcasm font!O_Gardino wrote:When Knight is back to his basically-all-star play, you'll see how good a GM Mcdonough is.ShelC wrote:JFC we still have Knight to deal with. Anything more than just buying him out would be a win at this point.

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
I honestly think with a decent coach Knight would bounce back. The only problem is we have Booker so the minutes available at the 2 is limited. If we don't trade for a guard or draft one I wouldn't be shocked if Knight/Booker were are starting guards next season.

We just need to rehabilitate him enough that his contract isn't a poison pill.

This is an interesting thought. Is it possible that Knight could never make the changes for improvement because he never was instructed properly?EDC wrote:I honestly think with a decent coach Knight would bounce back. Re: Bledsoe wants out!
The fact that we always bailed on the offense and went to straight iso's definitely didn't encourage the proper play for him. In order to get any shots he had to force things. Maybe that is why we saw so many pull up three point shots. No real way for us to know for sure.JCSunsfan wrote:This is an interesting thought. The bigger obstacle probably isn't his play but actually his feelings towards the Suns. Maybe it can be salvaged if he really disliked Watson. Especially since we will probably have a completely new coach when he comes back. His best move even if he is mad at the Suns is to come back next season and give it his all. Then ask to be moved.

He should love the Suns. They're giving him $70 million for basically nothing!

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
On the radio just now, McD gave this explanation of what is going on with Bledsoe.
Earlier this month his agent demanded that the Suns give Eric a max extension now. McD responded that they did not want to do that right now. He has two years left on his deal. They would consider it next summer. The agent did not like that response and shut down all communication. The next thing was Bledsoe's tweet. McD reiterated that he thought Eric was getting bad advice.
There you have it. All the stuff about sitting last year was not the issue. It was that Eric wants a max extension guaranteed now. If not, he is going to force his way out, even though he has two years left on his deal. I can see why McD is ticked.

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
If true, that is indeed some bad advice from Rich Paul. First, Bledsoe has not earned a max deal, not even close, sure his numbers are nice, but he hasnt showed any sort of real bearing on the out come of games. If anything I think we played better after we sat him last year.JCSunsfan wrote:On the radio just now, McD gave this explanation of what is going on with Bledsoe.

Its gotta be true. I cannot imagine a GM saying an agent was asking for a max extension when he wasn't.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:If true.JCSunsfan wrote:On the radio just now, McD gave this explanation of what is going on with Bledsoe.

On why the GM said Bledsoe was getting poor advice from his representatives: “Eric (was) eligible for a renegotiation and extension of his contract … with two years left on his contract, we did not feel like that was something that made sense for the team. We told Eric and his representatives that was something that we were potentially open to discussing next summer with one year left on his deal. I guess they didn’t like that answer and took kind of a hostile approach and kind of shut down and distanced themselves from the team. I think that’s where the approach came from.”

I don't really agree with Nichols. I don't think the GM is obligated to let players shit on our team with no response and no consequences. The Suns are still getting plenty of interesting calls about Bledsoe; McDo's comments aren't tanking Bledsoe's trade value. We just need to find a good deal for him and do the trade and move on.
Let's not forget that McDo has actually gotten some of his best returns on these disgruntled players who are leaving the team. We got a handsome cache of picks for Dragic. We got a first rounder for Markieff freaking Morris for Pete's sake. I have some faith that he'll find us a decent deal here.

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
Once I understood that this was about trying to force McD into a max contract, I am just fine with him. Fans need to know, otherwise they will be ripping on the owner etc all over again. Eric Bledsoe wanted a max extension which he in no way deserves and now is deliberated trying to force his way out. If his poor play in the first three games is also a result of the contract negotiations--well yikes.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I don't really agree with Nichols. Re: Bledsoe wants out!
The ask for the extension was clearly the precursor to asking for a trade IMO. They knew it was a non-starter and used it to then request a trade.
