Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
I gotta say that was as improbable a final couple minutes as I could imagine based on who was on the court and Dame
He played the whole 3rd again today and I think him n CJ mins been crazy but still missing both down one is such a wow moment

This is the second last minute blunder Portland has had in the bubble. Two inexcusable losses.
Correction: The Celtics loss wasn't inexcusable, but those last two possessions with Lillard/Nurkic going for 2 and then Nurkic's terrible inbound pass were inexcusable plays.

Hope they are worn out for Sixers tomorrow.

He will surely look to respond but I believe they will be tired
Sixers pace of play probably slows down featuring Embiid but to be continued

Grizzlies, Pels, Spurs, Blazers, Kings all in action tomorrow. If we win tonight and things go well tomorrow(Mostly looking at Blazers/Grizzlies) Monday’s game against the Thunder could put us into 9th. Thunder will be on second game of a back to back and owe us for their no show against Memphis.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy and proud of this team no matter the outcome but their play has got me hyped. It’s been such a crappy year and this been a true bright spot. I knew the odds coming in and I am at peace with what ever happens. It just would feel good for all the people who talk shit to eat crow, such as Draymond Green.Superbone wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:05 pmDude. We just have to relax and let the chips fall where they may. We just have to enjoy that the team is getting better and that this will pay off for next season where we have a good chance to be in the playoff picture year round. It would be AMAZING if we won out but even then there would still be a chance of not making the play in tournament.Wally_West wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:47 pmI truly was not expecting a Portland loss. I’m nervous level for tonight’s game has been dialed up to 11 now.![]()

What still needs to happen (I think):
* We win the rest of our games
* Portland loses at least one more
* San Antonio loses at least one more.
Somebody want to double check me on that?

San Antonio doesn’t matter. If we win out, we will finish at a higher win percentage than them.
Our magic number vs each team:
Memphis - 7(need Memphis to lose out)
Portland - 5(need at least 1 Portland loss)
San Antonio - 4
New Orleans - 4
Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
Thanks! So the situation’s better than I realized. Not quite “our destiny is in our hands,” but close. One Portland loss is all it takes to put it there.

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
We’re a ways off from next season, but league sources have told me that the NBA is looking at options that include creating regional bubbles, should the COVID-19 pandemic still prevent normal business in the fall. Teams would report to a bubble for short stints—around a month—which would be followed by 1-2 weeks off.
https://www.si.com/nba/2020/08/08/2020- ... tournamentThe Western Conference is going to be loaded next season. The bottom two teams right now are Minnesota and Golden State. The Warriors will compete for a top seed when they get Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back. The Timberwolves will have another year of Karl Towns and D’Angelo Russell, plus a top-five pick. The five non-playoff teams invited to the restart should all improve. It’s possible that the worst team in the West is better than the No. 8 seed in the East.
I love the regional bubble plan for the 2020-21 season.

Awesome to see the league doing so well as a whole. Sucks that the East always seems to have 80% or more of the terrible teams.
Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
Our chances at the playoffs are more likely than Lillard missing both of those.

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
One format that I would like to see is take the top 16 teams, and set up a two-sided bracket where you designate which team goes to which side based on alternating which side gets the better of the top two remaining unassigned teams.
For instance, you have a Group A and Group B. You start with the top teams:
Milwaukee and LA Lakers: Milwaukee is assigned to Group A and LAL is assigned to Group B.
Next two teams: Toronto and LA Clippers. In the previous seeding, the team with the better record was sent to Group A. This time, it will be reversed. The better of the two teams is sent to Group B.
And continue alternating which pool gets the better team until you have eight teams on each side of the bracket.
The only thing I dislike is that you potentially miss out on the rivalries playing out in the playoffs that form due to proximity and frequency of matchups in the regular season.

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
The eastern owners will just never agree to any of these changes.
I’d love to add 2 teams and switch to 4 8 team divisions. Play everyone twice(62 games) but play everyone in your division 4 times(14 more) gets you to 76 and then add some sort of tournament. Give some sort of benefit to winning the division, but still seed all the playoffs 1-16. Still runs the risk of getting a weak division, but seeding 1-16 helps resolve it.

Re: Around the League: Season Resumes
The fact that the NBA has gone on this long keeping the same format with such a disparity between conferences is bizarre. I guess it's like Split said, the owners in the East would fight against it.

Ya think you’d need enough owners to be in favor. Vote would be 15-15
