I honestly think it might be a case of group think

Rodney Hood also worked out twice. Only one was publicized till today. I think it's one or the other.

Watch the international tournaments (there's not much more stuff about him anyway). There is a ton to like. Penny Hardaway comparisons are probably out of hand, but he has a killer combination of speed, quickness and ballhandling in absolute terms, and he is 6'6. He won't orchestate an offense right away (maybe never who knows), but just his one on one and fastbreak potential makes you drool.

So Coro's mock has us taking Hood & Lavine. I don't think it's both, I think it's one or the other and then one of Payne or Warren.

From my limited knowledge, LaVine and Warren would be a heck of a haul.

Absolutely.
I still wonder how we'll fix our rebounding problem though.

Through hard work, Bobby. Hard work.

On the court or off?

If they pass on Kyle Anderson,Capela and Warren and draft these two that would be mighty disappointing.

I have a friend who I am going to draft with who has been on Exum's jock since Last year. He is enamored with his measurable as a PG. He's a sixers fan and has him rated higher then Parker. I am like Mori, I'm not 100% sold on him...although people have been impressed with him in workouts. I have him rated 5th behind Wiggins,Parker,Embiid and Gordon right with Randle, vonleh and smart. Those are my unquestioned top 8.
I do find it funny that alot of people are all over Lavine's measurables and potential. If your a "potential" guy Dante Exum oozes it, he just hasn't proven it vs elite comp IMO. If you guys like lavine, you should love this guy

Rodney Hood doesn't do 1 thing very well. He does a few things "good" but doesn't have 1 dominating NBA skill like Nic stauskas or Doug Mcdemott do. Gary Harris is a much better 2 way player then him and T.J. Warren has 1 dominating NBA Skill...he can put the ball in the hoop. Hood's athletic, but that only gets you so far... Hood is a below average defender as well. I just don't see why we would want him. He averaged 4 rebounds a game as a 6'8 forward and shrunk in a lot of Dukes Big games...
I just don't see why we would want him with so much better talent likely to be available at 14 and even 18.

Everyone seems to think Hood has a great shot so I wouldn't say he doesn't do 1 thing very well. I just worry about everything else in his game.

So, who would you pick at 14 if all of these three were available:
Saric
McDermott
Lavine
All fill an identified Suns' need. I might be inclined to grab and stash Saric.
Lavine is a nice talent, and would give them needed size at guard. But Goodwin could develop as a better passer.
McDermott could be the best shooter available, but there are a number of other good options in the draft available on the perimeter ... Young, Hood and Early, to name several.
Saric seems to be the class of the import big men. Capela has length and talent, but supposedly has a low-revving motor. Nurkic is good on the low block, but may be a pox for an up-tempo game at 280 or so.

Ring_Wanted wrote:The reason you disagree on Marcus' game is related to Frye? I don't get it. If you are a 3pt shooter, that's what you do. It works the opposite way too. Sam Cassel aced his long twos and you wouldn't want thim taking 3s because theory says that's a more efficient shot. You shoot from where you are most comfortable.
Regarding the last point, I was one of those who felt that JJ hadn't done enough to warrant what he was demanding. Remember that at the time he had had just half season of actual performance. It obviously backfired, but NBA history is full of bad contracts awarded too prematurely.
No, I was talking about mid-range game efficiency in general, not just Marcus' - apologies for not being clear on that point.
Wasn't sure if you'd been around for the whole JJ deal - it's been 10 years, after all.

McDermott will score in the NBA, no doubt in my mind, I'd take him.

Agreed - if those are the 3 choices, McDermott's the best choice.

Good to "see" you, LL. Just in time for the draft. I don't know, that's a tough question. It would be between McDermott and LaVine for me with me leaning toward LaVine.

I like Stauskas a lot, but I think he will be gone by 14. Kyle Anderson also interests me. I would be okay with Lavine. Not into McDermott. Would be okay with Saric. I don't want any guards who cannot shoot.

Interesting that you'd prefer Saric to McDermott.
