What do you guys think of Jarrett Allen? He's coming in on Tuesday for a workout. I think he'd look real nice next to Chriss and Bender forming a nice big-man rotation. I'm definitely interested in acquiring a 2nd pick mid lottery somewhere to snag this kid. If it cost us Warren and the #32?

I don't know enough about Allen. What does he do that Len doesn't offer. I knows he's got a massive wingspan, does he have any offensive skill?

I'd rather have Zach Collins than Allen if we're going for a lottery big. Collins can play both ends, he's huge, agile etc. Probably his only fan here, but whatevs.

He is the opposite of Len because he has huge hands and catches everything. He came on at the end of the year averaging 19 & 9 for the last month. He is more mobile than Len & yeah that wingspan...

My way out there prediction, that clearly won't happen. The Suns trade Brandon Knight to move up one spot as the Sixers want Monk, but feel 3rd is too soon for them. They also think they can reignite Knight's career, with a solid role as a starter.

The Suns then put together a package that pulls both Melo and Porzingis from NY. Includes Bledsoe, Bender, Chriss and swapping picks. With the 8th pick, the Suns select Frank Ntilikina who they believe will end up being a dynamic two way player eventually in the vein of Gary Peyton.

Not to be finished, the Suns draft a pair of Ducks in Bell and Boucher in the second round and take a look at another couple sg/sf in undrafted free agents.

They do not bring back Len, but are able to get Williams back with a hometown discount and reasonable deal. They kick around the idea of signing Millsap, but ultimately decide against pairing him with Porzingis.

I'm not sure that makes us any better than we are now.

Porzingis is tall, so thats a plus. We'd still be terrible, having to hope one of Booker/Zinger can be the alpha and put the squad on his back. Then the other being ok playing 2nd fiddle.

I see a lot of interesting big men, some of them pretty unheralded.

Jordan Bell is a great specimen. Some of his dunks remind me of Amare. 6'9, but just 6'11 wingspan, thogh.

Caleb Swanigan is a huge banger with nice motor, range out to the college 3pt line and a lot of length (7'3 wingspan, on a 6'9, 250 body).

Bam Adebayo is quite an athlete as well, almost prototypical at 6'10. Finishes a lot of stuff and even has a hook shot.

Anigbogu is already climbing and I am seeing him in the middle of the first round already. I wouldn't be surprised if a team takes him in the lotto. 6'8, non fat 250, 7'6 wingspan powering terrific timing to protect the rim.

I think they are unheralded for a reason, they are a dying breed. If you cant shoot the 3, nobody wants you. There are a few outliers obviously like Gobert and DJ, but nobody wants you if you cant shoot. Its stupid and I miss the days of centers being able to kill it in the post, but it is what it is.

Big men ideally can play defense and spread the floor. The dying breed is the big men who do neither (Jahlil Okafor)

I think a traditional low post center could still be successful in today's game, we just don't see them anymore because those skills are never taught and nobody plays that way at any level. They just better be able to defend.

I think a traditional low post C destroys todays NBA, who guards him? If Patrick Ewing played today, he'd have his way with the league, same with Dream, or Zo. I hope that one day we can get back to more tradional styled basketball instead of this analyticals 3's are better than 2's stuff. I dont enjoy watching 35 3fga per night, its boring. Maybe im just getting old?

I think they'd be successful, but there are plenty of guys that could defend them. There are a lot of good defensive bigs today. I'm too young to remember many specifics about Ewing or Hakeem and their style of play. Have we seen anything similar to them since? Even just in small doses?

Interestingly, advanced stats aren't too kind to Hakeem offensively. They still consider him above average, but it's his defense that really stands out. He was truly the elite of the elite defensively. At least by all statistical methods. Ewing also rates better defensively than offensively by advanced stats. Advanced stats loved David Robinson offensively.

These advance stats are why we see the offense we do now. Corner 3's, spread pick and roll, etc They put up better offensive stats than throw it in the post.
