Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
I'm hearing/reading much local chatter about Adrien Payne. If he's available at #18, I hope the Suns nab him. I think the three I mentioned earlier will be gone by then.
I've not seen him play, but based on what I've read, Payne seems to be a better version of Marcus Morris ... has a solid outside shot with some range, and has plenty of length.
I like what I'm reading about Young and Early, also.

Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Great question LL.
I would probabaly nab Saric...then Mcdermott in a very close 2nd. I'd be happy with either...obviously it would depend on Saric's contract and when he can come over (he is saying he won't stay 3 years)

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Yeah, his endurance is a big concern, unless you think he's your bench 4 behind Kieff off the bench.

He's got the age thing working against him. I rather take CleanAnthony Early in the 20's if I am going to take an outside shooting 4yr big.

Even though Saric decided to pull a Fran Vasquez & stay overseas for another 2-3 years?Mori Chu wrote:I like Stauskas a lot, but I think he will be gone by 14. Kyle Anderson also interests me. I would be okay with Lavine. Not into McDermott. Would be okay with Saric. I don't want any guards who cannot shoot.

I was high on Payne as well until I read he has limited lung capacity.....LazarusLong wrote:I'm hearing/reading much local chatter about Adrien Payne. If he's available at #18, I hope the Suns nab him. I think the three I mentioned earlier will be gone by then.

He isn't a traditional one, but he isn't quick enough to guard SF's. He'll be a tweener SF/PF in the NBA...book it.

Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
I dont think that bodes well for him personally, he's not a great athlete or big enough to guard 4's. He could be a Draymond Green type I guess, but I wouldn't draft him as a 4.
Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
If you accept the Suns don't want to bring in 3 rookies this year Saric makes a lot of sense. He's viewed as a top 10 talent who you can work into the rotation in a couple of years when you'll have a better idea how good Len, Goodwin and the other draft picks are. I would think the Suns would think long and hard about him at 14 and definitely take him at 18 if he's still on the board (just my gut feel)SwingMan wrote:Even though Saric decided to pull a Fran Vasquez & stay overseas for another 2-3 years?Mori Chu wrote:I like Stauskas a lot, but I think he will be gone by 14. Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Do you want to use your top pick on a D&S? I'd rather get a guy who'll play @14 then use either 18 or 27 for a D&S.

Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Clearly that's the better option but with Boston having a second first rounder at 17 and linked to Saric in many mock drafts if you really want him you may need to bite the bullet and take him at 14. I am not advicating this by the way, just thinking out loud.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Do you want to use your top pick on a D&S? Chad Ford:
"Suns have been very active. They’ve talked to the Kings about moving up to 8. They’ve talked about moving their picks for veterans. Interestingly, they’ve been talking about point guards with teams which may reflect an uneasiness in re-signing Eric Bledsoe to a huge deal this summer. I’m told that the four prospects they seem to be focused on right now are Elfrid Payton, Zach LaVine, Rodney Hood and TJ Warren."

After hearing soon after the 2013 draft that Bennett's got respiratory issues not much unlike Adreian Payne, uh, that'd be a 'hell no' from me.Shabazz wrote:Swingman.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Would anyone trade 14 for Anthony Bennett?
I'd rather go for McDermott or Kyle Anderson at 14.....
