I don’t think that’s enough for Portland

I think Portland says no to that deal. Giving up the #3 pick is a big deal; you don't do so for THJ and those other assets.

In that case, Ishbia fired the wrong guy first.

They could co-exist.

So Jones missed on Haliburton (which is mentioned just about everyday here) but we want the guy who drafted Kuminga and Wiseman, which essentially closed the window on the Ws Big 3?

I also think he’s given more credit than properly due. Having the best shooter ever on the roster can cover for a lot of missteps.

His biggest achievement has probably been navigating the post KD construction that eventually won a title.

Here's his complete record as a GM/exec:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/ex ... bo99x.html

Definitely some misses in there, but any GM's record is going to have some big draft whiffs. Some noteworthy moves he made, a subset:

* July 10, 2013: Trades Andris Biedrins and other players for Andre Iguodala.

* May 19, 2014: Hired Steve Kerr as Head Coach.

* June 25, 2015: Selected Kevon Looney (1st round, 30th pick) in the 2015 NBA Draft.

* July 9, 2015: Signed Draymond Green to a multi-year contract. Traded David Lee to the Boston Celtics for Chris Babb and Gerald Wallace.

* July 7, 2016: Signed Kevin Durant to a multi-year contract.

* June 20, 2019: Selected Jordan Poole (1st round, 28th pick) in the 2019 NBA Draft.

* July 7, 2019: Traded Kevin Durant and a 2020 1st round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Treveon Graham, Shabazz Napier and D'Angelo Russell. Conditional 2020 1st-rd pick did not convey.

* February 6, 2020: Traded Jacob Evans, D'Angelo Russell and Omari Spellman to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 1st round draft pick (Jonathan Kuminga was later selected) and a 2021 2nd round draft pick (Miles McBride was later selected). 2021 1st-rd pick is top-3 protected.

* February 23, 2020: Signed Dragan Bender to a 10-day contract.

* November 18, 2020: Selected James Wiseman (1st round, 2nd pick), Nico Mannion (2nd round, 48th pick) and Justinian Jessup (2nd round, 51st pick) in the 2020 NBA Draft. (oops)

* May 16, 2021: Signed Gary Payton II.

* July 29, 2021: Selected Jonathan Kuminga (1st round, 7th pick) and Moses Moody (1st round, 14th pick) in the 2021 NBA Draft.

* August 6, 2021: Signed Otto Porter.

* July 8, 2022: Signed Donte DiVincenzo to a multi-year contract.

You know what's not on that list? Torrey Craig. Good enough for me.

This just makes me nauseated considering what we had to give up to get him.... UGH.

That was a sign and trade that Brooklyn didn’t need to do to get Durant, so GS had zero leverage.

Yep. And it was a genius move by Myers to retain that salary space above the cap, which allowed them to bring in Wiggins and win another championship. I'm hoping we can do something similar with Chris Paul, instead of just waive/stretch him and lose that ability to use that amount of salary over the cap.

Ya they later sent D-Lo for Wiggins and got a 1st out of it too.

I wonder how much the NBA looks into stuff like this with the refs.

Given our personal history.... I'd say they don't. :lol:

I think we're only a few years away at most from our first major sports gambling scandal disaster of the modern era, where we find out that refs, players, staff, etc. gambled on games, threw games, etc. It's coming.
