And we shouldn't. It is at least as bad (but probably much worse) than giving the Sonics KT AND Serge Ibaka AND another 1st round pick for a single 2nd rounder and a trade exception that we let expire.

That pick is going to be #1-5 in the draft, for sure. And we'll groan about what a good draft it is and how much we wish we had a top-5 pick. We got fleeced.

It is very possible that we could have had 2 picks in the top 5. It could have really set us up...

This franchise has traded away so many top draft picks in the past 10-12 years. It's heartbreaking.

I don't think the big loss with the Lakers pick will end up being who gets drafted with it, rather the opportunity cost of having the best asset in the NBA and cashing it in for Brandon Knight.

Exactly. That pick might not turn out to be anything amazing, but it could. And I guarantee it will be worth much, much more than 30 games of Brandon Knight. Honestly, as a top 3-5 pick, what are the chances you would get more than 30 games of decent NBA basketball out of them over their rookie deal. I think it is pretty damn high.

Let me know if this idea sounds totally insane. with Morris' trade value at an all time low, is there any point in sending him to the D league. He cant actively sabotage our team then. But more importantly, If he plays like crap then his only really hurting himself since it just makes him look bad and makes it harder to trade him (his wish). So this may actually motivate him. If he puts up good numbers we could say he just needed to get his head right and maybe make trade value slightly more than nothing.

I might be wrong, but I think teams are only allowed to send their players to the D-league who have been in the league for less than 3 years. So Markieff would be ineligible to be sent to the D-league.

I might be wrong, but I think teams are only allowed to send their players to the D-league who have been in the league for less than 3 years. So Markieff would be ineligible to be sent to the D-league.
Brandon Jennings was just there last Saturday as part of his rehab. It isn't like Summer League but a player can refuse to go if I recall correctly. Morris would never go, but sending him there to work on his broken shot isn't the worst idea.

yeah I wasn't clear part about whether a player could refuse. Playing him in drips and drabs seems to be doing more harm than good with us having more to lose. And because we have done that with him putting up poor numbers his trade value is shot. Sounds like its time for a almost last resort strategy, just tell him it will allow him to stay in game shape for when we trade his fat ass. I'm a twin and he gives our people a bad name

Indeed, but we seem to be pretty much at that point already. I understand his hates the team and probably humanity, but his ego is surely big enough that he wouldn't want to do that. It would completely f*ck his career. Its a situation where he couldn't blame anyone else, which seems to be his favourite pastime

I wasn't clear on the D-League rules so I looked it up and found this.
NBA Assignments: NBA teams can assign players who are rookies or in their second season to their D-League affiliate. Players can stay with the D-League affiliate for as long as the NBA team wishes, and be recalled back to the NBA at any time.
NBA teams can assign players as many times as they choose. For the second season, NBA players in the first three years of their NBA careers may be assigned to their NBA D-League affiliate an unlimited number of times, according to the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, while for the third consecutive year, players beyond the first three years of their NBA careers may be assigned to their NBA D-League affiliate with their consent and the consent of the NBA Players Association. Last season, the NBA D-League saw veterans Amar’e Stoudemire (New York Knicks, Erie BayHawks) and Keyon Dooling (Memphis Grizzlies, Reno Bighorns) take advantage of NBA D-League assignments to rehabilitate injuries or further develop their games.

There continues to be talk that the Phoenix Suns could move off forward Markieff Morris if they really wanted to, but there is a growing sense that what comes back in a Morris deal may not be very attractive to the Suns in both the short-term and the long-term.
Sources close to the Suns say that they are not going to make a bad deal just to force Morris off the roster, but as the deadline gets closer there is an increasing sense around the league that Phoenix might blink on a deal just to remove the problem from their equation.

This was from a yahoo article about a month back:
Morris has been told he will be asked to apologize to his Suns coaches and teammates, make a renewed commitment to the team for games, practices, weight-training sessions and treatment sessions and attend all NBA and Suns community appearances, the source said.
I wonder if he's been held to any of those things. My guess is not.

It was reported that he did. The indications I seem to be getting is that Morris' attitude is much better. He is just not playing good basketball right now. He is out of shape, and his timing and shot are way off.
