If he was in the last year of his contract, I could see it. but he just signed an over-priced deal for a PG turning 30 that can't shoot. And with the talk of the team coming together and fighting as one, I just don't see him doing that. I kind of hope he does, it it means we would consider trading him to get out of that contract (I think year 3 is going to be so bad).
I'm interested in moving Rubio. I like sending him to Golden State for their TPE. And I like moving him and Bridges for Aaron Gordon.

I think Rubio could see an uptick in his catch and shoot 3pt percentage as he gets older. It's about reps and consistency and his shot isn't even really broken, just flat at times. He'll never be a fluid, dynamic offensive scorer like Nash, Curry or Paul but he reminds me more of Kidd who over time became respectable, if not dangerous, from 3 later on in his career.
Good comparison with Kidd.

I know you are really down on Bridges because he hasn't shown an ability to do anything on offense consistently, but it is way too early to give up on him.

More and more I get the feeling Rubio may opt out because of his newborn. Other players have done so and the Suns aren't talking probably so it won't be a distraction. Adding Payne means they know they might be shorthanded too. Hopefully he's just waiting until the last minute to get there and the Suns are OK with it because he's a vet.

But u said David Klein is a good follow for insight
He is a great follow. Rubio is shooting 35% for the season from 3. That is not good. The fact that he shoots 51% from catch and shoot 3s in the corner tells you he isn't shooting that shot enough, and taking worse shots much more often.
It's not bad either. Good enough to keep taking them.
It puts him in the bottom 25% of starting guards this season.

Where was that level of fitness in October? One of the knocks on him was he was a "play his way into shape" kinda guy at the start of every season. And of course now he's up for a contract. I still like him and would keep him at the right price, but I also get shades of Tim Thomas here.
It's too little too late for me. This smells like a regret waiting to happen. I like Saric, and he has the tools to be what we need at the 4, he just didn't put it together this season, and I don't need to see the sequel. Best to move on.
But like most of the other bigs, was he overextended because of Ayton's absence? Was he asked to do too much at times? Were defenses able to focus more and take away some things without having to worry about Ayton? He's still risky to keep longterm and I don't think the FO is interested in keeping him, but he did do some things very well in terms of passing, setting others up, hustling inside and toughing out some rebounds. I think he's overmatched as a starter most nights but could be a decent 4/5 off the bench.

We finally get ourselves an above-average distributing point guard who is capable of leading the league in assists, and you guys want to run him out of town along with one of our best young wings in exchange for an athlete PF who can't shoot or rebound and is mediocre on D.

I only know of one guy here that wants to get rid of Bridges.
And as for Rubio, he is a mediocre starting point guard. He is top 10 in play making, bottom 10 in defense and shooting. that isn't a good combo

I don't think Golden State would be interested in Rubio. He's overpaid and miscast as a 1st guard off the bench.
The second trade would be horrible for us in both the short and long term.

I’m not a huge Rubio fan...I’m definitely a little worried about year 3 of that deal, but I think he was actually pretty good this year. 35% from 3 is definitely better than I expected. His on ball defense does seem to be lacking at times, but he still rates as the 7th best starting pg by DRPM. He’s 8th overall among starting pg by RPM. He’s also 11th in defensive box plus minus and defensive win shares. So advanced stats still say he’s slightly above average defensively.

I thought he was also pretty good, when not gimpy, by the eye test. He's a really smart defender. In fact, I'm having a hard time remembering a better starting-caliber defensive PG on our roster since Kidd. I don't think Bledsoe was better.

This is phx-suns.net isn’t it? Even when we were a top tier team with Nash, Amare etc. half the people here wanted to trade half the team at all times. The grass is always greener on the other side until you get there and it isn’t.
Rubio made this team 100X’s more enjoyable to watch than the previous many years. We should trade him for a PF and go back to really sucking. That way we can go bck to saying what a horrible idea it was to trade Rubio and start another trade thread on the new PF not named yet.

I think Bledsoe was a lot better his first year and a half here. After that he just stopped caring. Rubio is a very smart defender, but he just can't stay in front of anyone. I think we got really lucky that Ayton started to come around on defense this season, because he was cleaning up a lot of messes by Rubio and Booker.

Rubio absolutely made us a better team than having nobody there like the last few seasons. We shouldn't trade him without having a starting caliber PG that is better than him.

Bledsoe is better defensively, but he didn’t play better defensively. I don’t know if it was coaching, laziness on the players part, or a combo of both, but our players the last 5 or 6 years definitely did not play up to their potential, especially defensively.
Bledsoe was known as a great defensive pg when we acquired him. Perhaps he played well defensively that first year, but the rest of his time it was all reputation and no production. He goes to Milwaukee and now he’s a top 3 defensive pg again.
TJ Warren was a crappy defender here, goes to Indiana and all of a sudden he’s a good defender. Possible that was his focus in the off season, but that’s a huge jump to make.
It does feel like our players are either finally putting in the effort, or our coaches have created good schemes. Booker and Ayton(especially) looked better defensively this year. We actually have the pieces to be a solid defensive team. A versatile defensive big at the 4 would be nice though.

Yeah. That's all fair. Bledsoe was a force defensively when he wanted to be. That just didn't happen enough.

I think so too.
I also think they're possibly just giving Rubio and Baynes as much time as possible before making them report.
