Also depends on your philosophical beliefs. Did trading the pick alter enough events to cause the ping-pong balls to bounce a different way? Maybe. Had we hung on to the pick it could the it have somehow fallen to 6? Could be. We'll never know.
OK, then let's try this one. Would you trade Bledsoe for Brandon Knight? Would you trade Bledsoe for the #6 pick?
I say yes to the first and no to the second. The #6 pick could net you Mudiay, but other than that, I think the talent available at #6 will be comparable to the talent available at #13 in this draft.
The really interesting thing about this question is that we may very well be able to trade Bled for the #6 or even the #4. But I don't think we would. But we could - and if we did, we'd be saying yes to the first proposal, in effect. Stated another way:
Knight>Bled>#6>Lakers pick

I'd trade Bledsoe for Porzingas right now & I think he'd go around #6, so yes. He may be the next Dirk. Kid has really impressive footwork & can shoot from anywhere.

Huh. My thoughts on him were trending the other way, but he's one of the biggest question marks in the draft. I haven't looked closely enough. Ford has him going 5. We'll see.

I can't see the Lakers making the playoffs and there are a lot of really good guards in the league. Off the top of my head, Knight is somewhere in the upper middle tier of guards. So yes, I would absolutely rather still have the Lakers pick.
I believe trading the pick was a risky move, with not enough upside to justify the risk.

A write-up of Portis and Looney's workout with the Suns:

Sounds like we might be cool with either of them - useful if you intend to trade down. Though it does appear that Portis may be higher on our board, which makes sense.

I'd go with Portis. Like his size and ability better. Looney's still pretty raw and may be a tweener...and not the good kind.

Wow. Watch WCS just drain 3s. If he actually has an offensive game he may be much better than I thought.

If he can really shoot decently, all bets are off. They guy is hugely athletic and a great defender. I would take him in a heartbeat. I would do everything I could to move up to take him.

Funny. I see Portis as more raw. Based on the evaluations of this article I would take Looney over Portis. The Suns need players who can shoot, defend and rebound.

Yes, that too. Players willing to commit themselves to a team system.

Yep, that's what I was really disappointed with last year. A bunch of one-on-one ball. I'd much prefer a SA/Hawks/Warriors type system of ball movement which is traditionally the Phoenix Suns way. Last year was horrible in this regard.

When you look at how the Suns and Jazz played when Jeff was there, you just know how much this current team had to kill him.

I'm sure I am just being biased from the tournament, but I love Dekker.

He is intriguing at 44. I read that he's long, athletic, but soft. I want those PFs to want to rip the rim off, like it was sexting their mom, every time they get the ball and most of the time when they don't.

I see what you did there.
