It’s tradable contract. Depending on what Saric gets, we might be able to have decent amount of salaries to put a package together for a disgruntled star mid season if one becomes available.
We're getting a star with a package of Dario Saric and Jae Crowder?
disgusting amount of unprotected draft picks and maybe Ayton? Idk man I’m just trying to be positive. Haha
Yeah, they could pair with Ayton in a deal. I don't think an Ayton trade will come until next offseason, if at all.

Think about it this way, we signed a starter of a team that made the Finals to the MLE.
We also talked up how Ryan Anderson and Trevor Ariza were starters from a contender.

Crowder will no doubt play hard every night and he will have the occasional game/stretch where he will shoot lights out followed by really bad shooting nights. It’s a decent pick up and given the market, not the worst contact but still not great. I feel pretty meh to it all.

At least we have options if Crowder isn’t good. We didn’t have options for Anderson/Ariza sucking...and did we actually think Anderson was gonna be good? I didn’t. That was just a swap of bad contracts(Knight for Anderson) Ariza was very disappointing.

Shooting guys. Shooting.
I’m not sure he qualifies as a shooter. But he’ll get looks in this offense. Hopefully he’s 35% or higher.
He’s a clanker. Doesn’t anyone remember EJ just ripping on his poor shot selection and the amount of bricks he throws up. He played better in Miami but he was trash in Memphis.
Hopefully his chucking days are behind him
He‘s streaky, but he‘s no clanker.

Shure, but Crowder is 2-3 years younger than what Ariza was. We don‘t know yet what he will give us. He was really good in the bubble.

Crowder will be fine. He plays hard and will do the dirty work as a physical defender. Good ballhandler who can guard multiple positions, can hit the 3, playoff experience. A lot of different lineups we can throw out there now big, small or in between. Really happy about this one.

I feel pretty "meh" about Crowder. Veteran guy who has been deep in the playoffs and can handle pressure. Hard worker and decent shooter and defender. He seemed kind of big and slow the last few times I watched him, and his shooting has been up and down. I don't think he's a savior, but I can imagine games where our young forwards aren't ready for the moment and Crowder steps in to steady the team. Kind of a PJ Tucker-esque signing though they have some differences.
I think I might rather have tried to keep Baynes than sign Crowder, but I don't hate the signing.

Crowder is a great signing. He’s exactly the type of player I wanted to replace Oubre. Cheaper replacement with far higher value compared to cost, lower usage, smarter on defense, toughness with a good work ethic and decent/above average from 3.
It’s pretty clear the type of team Jones is trying to assemble (don’t you dare respond with “yeah, mediocre” inf). He’s got a clear identity for this roster, which is much more than I could say for any GM really since D’Antoni left.
I’m really happy with our moves overall. I would have preferred FVV at 21m over Paul at 40, but I can at least see a plan and purpose. And MLe for crowder is hardly an overpay. Overpaying a player like Bertrans or Gallo is what will kill teams.

He's not a great defender though he doesn't shy away from defense like some players. Just don't expect him to be PJ Tucker even though he's a big body for a SF. I imagine he'll spend a lot of time at PF along Bridges honestly.

I think the 3/4 rotation of Bridges, Johnson, Crowder with Saric and Smith at 4/5 is great. Get me a solid backup guard and let’s call it a day. If we could snag George Hill from OKC or somehow get Pat Bev on this team (no clue if he’s happy in LA or what his contract even is) would be great.

Are you assuming one/both of Payne/Carter will be gone?

Bobby Portis?? Barf.
Portis would be solid.
His game is fine. He can rebound and stretch the floor. But we just drafted Smith for his exact role. Plus he doesn’t seem like a James Jones guy from a character standpoint. A little too much Josh Jackson. Maybe he’s matured.
Yeah, he had that run-in with Mirotic in Chicago, so the character may not be there. But Mirotic apparently is also a jerk.
No room for jerks on this roster.

Character issues is the main reason why I don’t want portis. It’s been a couple years and mirotic is an asshole but the dude broke his jaw and gave him a concussion. No. Pass.
And Chris Paul seems obsessed with punching guys in their junk.
You're thinking of Draymond Green.
