I don't think Russia markets are that big, so it's just a drop in the bucket and won't change much yet.

MOSCOW, June 12 (Reuters) - New U.S. sanctions against Russia will shut down trading in dollars and euros on its leading financial marketplace, the Moscow Exchange, the bourse and the central bank said on Wednesday.
"Due to the introduction of restrictive measures by the United States against the Moscow Exchange Group, exchange trading and settlements of deliverable instruments in U.S. dollars and euros are suspended," the central bank said.

It’s time for the annual National Defense Authorization Act where the Washington passes the budget for our national defense for the upcoming year.

A version just passed in the Senate restricting abortion access, medical treatment for transgender troops and efforts to combat climate change. Now you are asking yourselves, what does any of that have to do with our national defense? Well, it has absolutely nothing our national defense but, it passed the Republican led Senate. It is expected to not pass in the Senate though for some reason and Republicans will claim Dems just hate the US.

House Republicans narrowly pass defense bill loaded with culture war issues

California just admitted that their jobs growth was fake and they actually lost jobs in 4th quarter 2023.

Newest Early Jobs Revision Shows No Net Job Growth During 2023
June 17, 2024

Chas Alamo
https://lao.ca.gov/LAOEconTax/Article/Detail/783
Monthly State Jobs Estimates Are Revised Annually. Each month our office publishes the most recent state employment figures from the the Current Employment Statistics (CES) survey. State employment figures come from this monthly survey, which is based on a small sample of businesses in the state. As a result, once per year the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does a benchmark revision, updating the monthly CES estimates to match more reliable administrative data from states’ Unemployment Insurance programs.

Federal Researchers Now Publishing Quarterly Revisions. Although the BLS only revises the state-level CES once per year, the underlying data used to revise the CES survey is collected quarterly. Taking advantage of this asynchrony, in 2021, researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia began publishing state-level “early revisions” based on the same underlying data but revised more frequently.

Early Revisions Suggests State Lost Jobs During Fourth Quarter of Last Year. Based on the most recent release of the early benchmarks, payroll jobs declined by 32,000 from September 2023 through December 2023. On the contrary, the preliminary monthly reports showed a solid increase in job growth (+117,000 jobs) at the time. With the fourth quarter revision, calendar year 2023 saw essentially no net job growth (+9,000 jobs overall). Data since January 2024 has not yet been rebenched. As such, the figure includes the Early Benchmark Revision for these recent months growing at the same rate as the official CES estimates.

I know Republicans loathe California, but California in general has a thriving economy despite some challenges and imperfections; it's what, the 5th or 6th biggest world economy if you treated it as its own nation? CA has around 5.3% unemployment right now, down from 16% (!) in mid-2020 during the height of COVID (under Trump).

Republicans loathe California politics and policies that hurt the state and the people that live and visit it, but overall they love California weather and the natural resources it has. Probably don't love the traffic though.

California is doing great. Everybody wants to move there and live there. Cost of living is out of control in LA and SF areas, to be sure, but CA is by far the most prosperous and successful state in the USA. To say otherwise is simply spite.

California is the epicenter of Liberalism. That puts a huge Con target on it.

Hasn't there been a lot of people moving out of California? I seem to remember them having a hard time keeping UHauls in the state, because they were moving out faster than moving in. Are you gaslighting us again?

More people moving out of California than any other state

According to a survey by https://www.consumeraffairs.com/movers/ ... -from.html, California ranks as the No. 1 state people are moving from, ahead of New York, New Jersey and Illinois.

The report revealed California saw roughly 17,000 people move out of the state, while only just over 7,000 people moved in, making it the leading state in outbound migration. In comparison, New York, which is second on the list, experienced significantly fewer moves.

Yeah, nobody wants to live in that hell hole anymore. They are going to close the state any day now and convert it into a refuge for convicted Maga politicians.

You are here to bash anything Biden or Dem. That is it. That is the only reason I can see. Biden could walk into a burning building, save a child and Maga would claim he was just there buying coke for his son, was trying to sexually assault the child and the child actually carried Biden out of the burning building. You would have several dudes on X posting it making it true. Conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy….

Stop it already, you sound like The Onion now, with you theories, haha.

I am giving you the facts, and I'm sorry if they aren't aligning with your unrequited love of anything and everything Blue, Dem & Biden.

Didn't know where to put this. Dunno if any of you have encountered these awful "surcharges" restaurants have started adding. Like, you'll go to a restaurant, the entree will be $15, you'll get your bill and they will just add $5 at the bottom of the bill and they'll write something like "living wage surcharge" or "cost surcharge." And you just have to pay the higher price! In many cases the surcharge isn't mentioned on the menu or is buried in fine print. And you are expected to tip on top of this. It is really infuriating. If your prices are higher, just say so!

Restaurants are just trying to get in on the action. Hidden fees are everywhere these days.

More really encouraging economic data in the June numbers just released. Inflation down, unemployment very low. It seems like we have weathered the COVID storm. The Fed may drop interest rates either in July or Sep. Pity all this good economic news is being buried by #ButHisAge.

Unbelievable. I'll cut tip and leave a note. Only way restaurants will stop that is if employees leave because of it

Watching Fox News hosts awkwardly be forced to report and react to the fact that the US economy is strong under Biden/Harris, is my catnip.
