I think Russ would go just about anywhere that would take him at this point. I don’t think he really makes much sense for us at all. The rim pressure would be nice, but not worth all the negatives. Russ used to be an 80/20 guy…80 percent incredible and 20% bonehead…he’s probably 30/70 now. Not worth it

It sure feels nice to be the destination for buyouts.
Ngl, I like some of the other options out there better. Maybe this means Shamet is more injured than we thought.

"Better" among the candidates is pretty subjective at this point. They all have a sizeable whole in their game, which is part of the reason they're on the buy out market.
There's a pretty clear offensive drop off with the bench, and I think Ross is the most likely to successfully address that deficiency. I still worry about his defense, a lot.

I liked Jackson but he went to Denver who probably has a more locked in role. I was between Ross and Barton for best option.

So does that mean we’ll have to choose westbrook? Ugh. I just dislike this dude. I wish Rose wanted a buyout to sign with us than take on Westbrook.
I'm nervous about Payne and Saben Lee being the only Point Guards behind Paul, but that's mostly due to the ambiguity around Payne's injury. I won't be worried if he's completely healthy when it matters.
That said, I think they probably made a run at Jackson first.

I don’t trust Payne, either to be healthy or when he’s on the floor. He’s been better this year than last but was pretty rough before he got hurt. If he’s at that same level in the playoffs we can’t go to him.
I also don’t think it’s as big of an issue with KD now on the roster. When push comes to shove I think CP3, Book and KD will be our primary initiators.

Jeremy is going to like what Channing Frye has to say here. Richard Jefferson, not as much.

Yep. Ayton's best chance of producing as a max player will be as a 3rd or 4th option. It's going to look so easy for him some nights, and I think it was Split who already said it, no one will complain about his miscues if he's locked in night to night.
