Depends on how you define the the term. The jury found that he forcibly penetrated Carroll with his finger, not his penis. According to the laws of the jurisdiction where it occurred, that’s technically sexual assault, not rape.

The right wing media has gotten a lot of mileage out of that word game.

In May 2023, Reade defected to Russia to seek Russian citizenship, which she announced during an interview with Sputnik in Moscow alongside suspected Kremlin spy Maria Butina, whom Reade called her friend. Reade said that she felt safe in Moscow, and criticized the United States' "aggressive stance" towards her.

I thought Reade was widely debunked. She even became a Putin pal after her case flopped.

It was never debunked, and she has a lot more evidence than looney E Jean Carroll had.

This feels like something that they think Trump would say, but didn't actually say it, to frame it badly about Trump.

Speaking of Fani Willis.

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has issued a subpoena to Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis demanding documents from her office in response to allegations that she dismissed a whistleblower who attempted to prevent a senior campaign aide from misusing federal funds.

NBC News has obtained the subpoena as part of a larger investigation by House Republicans into whether former President Donald Trump, who was indicted in Fulton County last year on charges he attempted to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results, was the subject of federal funding during Willis's more than two-year investigation.

Trump has entered a "not guilty" plea.

Jordan states that Willis has not complied with two previous requests for documents concerning her office's use of federal grant funds, in a letter dated Friday.

The subpoena requests that the Fulton County District Attorney's Office furnish any documents and communications “referring or relating to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office’s receipt and use of federal funds” and “referring or relating to any allegations of the misuse of federal funds.”

Newly discovered audio recordings were recently leaked, revealing yet another scandal in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s office.

The whistleblower, named Amanda Timpson, is heard alleging to Willis on the audio that there has been an illegal misappropriation of government funds by her senior aide Michael Cuffee.

The audio recording was made in 2021 but revealed now amid numerous ethics questions about the Fulton County DA.

In the recording, Timpson boldly expresses her worries about Cuffee’s attempts to utilize grant funds for things that have nothing to do with their intended use, including buying “MacBooks, swag, and travel expenses.”

When Timpson confronted Cuffee about the ethics issue, she experienced blowback, saying, "When I questioned him, he took me off of projects, because I questioned him.”

When Timpson contacted Willis, there were more reprisals.

Cuffee then threatened Timpson with payback.

"You think your word is safe. When you reached out to Ms. Willis, she called me and told me everything. So once you reach out to her, she’s going to reach back out to me."

Timpson was fired and then 'perp walked' out of the office as a warning to whistleblowers.

Fani Willis is now under fire for major financial and ethics scandals in her office, including evidence that she hired her alleged lover Nathan Wade as a special prosecutor. Financial documents show that Wade then used funds to take Ms. Willis on lavish vacations, including to Napa Valley, California, Florida and the Caribbean.

So dumb to do this when she should have known that she'd face scrutiny.

BS. Take it to trial, then, like Carroll did, if there's so much to it. Carroll won at civil trial before a judge and jury. You don't seem to give that much weight, but it matters a lot.

I don't give it that much thought, as I gave you numerous reasons. Sure, a civil trial holds weight in most cases. If it's in DC, there is absolutely no possible way to get a fair trial if it has any political involvement.
