I don't know why I didn't think of this in my other Ayton trade possibilities, but Detroit makes a ton of sense. Duren, Bogdanovich and Burks for Ayton and Shamet - or something like that. I'd love to find a way to get Beef Stew also.

Detroit already has 2 other centers, which complicates things, but they're at least giving up one in the trade.
I don't think Detroit is in the Ayton market anymore. The love Duren, and he will probably be better than Ayton.
Not now LOL.

Yeah, I think Okogie played himself back to a minimum contract.
It only takes one…

True. And if that one happens, so be it. The Suns should make an offer at the minimum (2 year, guaranteed), and if Okogie can do better, then good for him.

If we move Ayton to Dallas and get the #10 pick back, I definitely see James Jones trading it to Chicago for Alex Caruso.

Dallas' 2024 pick is going to New York (protected 1-10). Can they even trade their 2023 pick?

Shamet and 10 to the bulls for Caruso and a lottery protected future 1st. I’d do that

They can draft the player and then trade him. If everything is worked out ahead of time it’s doable. But that would make it trickier

Yes. They would just have to make the selection on behalf of another team.

Ah, duh. Thanks. I already knew that but the coffee hasn't reached my brain yet.

I wonder if Detroit would do Shamet for Hayes + pick #31?

What else would it take for the Bulls to agree to this deal?

Suns: DeRozan, Caruso
Bulls: Bertans, Hardaway Jr., #10
Mavs: Ayton

Bertans contract would be a non-starter for them. And I don't think they would value THJ.

Bertans' deal has 2 years left. It's not all that terrible for a tanking/rebuilding team, which is what this kind of move would indicate.

THJ, maybe you're right. Ball isn't coming back anytime soon, so maybe they'd completely clean house.

The 2025 free agent class is pretty good, and they could be enticed by freeing up $30M+ from those two guys.

I think they would want to retool, not tank. DeRozan is still a great player (with a great salary) and all they would have to show for moving him would basically be the 10th pick.

Ball is basically $20 million in dead money, so adding Bertans salary would almost double the money they have on the books that they're not seeing any ROI.

I don't see how that deal would entice them. Maybe if they were getting Cam Payne and Josh Green, and not taking on Bertans deal.

OK, bad deal.

All I want to know is how it could be possible to get DeRozan and Caruso on the Suns for Ayton and whatever else.

Probably easier to just deal with Chicago directly. They’d need to be interested in Ayton.

Ayton, Shamet, and some pick swaps for Derozan/Caruso?

I thought they were a strong candidate to be trade partner, but word is they are trying to bring Vucevic back.
