Thanks for saying that. It's true, but it's easy to lose sight of when folks are upset.
I'm angry that he didn't retire as a Sun, but it's easy to assume either side is to blame. Could be both. There's no way to really know.

As I remember Nash sat with MDA during his ring of honor presentation and basically ignored Sarver. Sarver has turned this franchise into a total cluster f***.
We have been on a downward spiral since he became owner. Our roster has got no better. Our front office has got no better. Our fan base has shrunk. Free agents really do not want to come here.
I am a sucker and am looking forward to next season. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall. Until we get a new owner I have little faith much is going to change. I really want to be proven wrong.
And we haven't made the playoffs since Colangelo's players moved on.

Sweet D had the drug scandal. Sir Charles gave less than his best effort during the playoffs and willfully sabotaged the team on the way out. They're still in the ROH. Amare deserves the ROH, no question. Jason Kidd probably deserves it too.

Nobody, if they retire "as" the last team they played for. But when a guy goes out of his way to retire with a certain organization - and it's not yours - it's fair to feel slighted.

This.
To even suggest that what Amar'e did is the same as what Nash and Marion did tells me you missed the point by a mile. They just hung them up as a member of the last team they played for. Amar'e went out of his way to self-identify as a "Knick for life." That's ridiculous.

Ridiculous poll. Nash retired a Laker. Marion a Cavalier. Were they not still shoe ins for the ROH? Come on Bone.
Marion is not in the Ring of Honor, and while they did have a ceremony for Nash, he's not listed on the website.
Interestingly, Hawkins, Walter Davis, (and Nash) are the only players in the RoH who did not go the the NBA finals with us.

carey, etc... Who cares? Barkley said some terrible things about the Suns after he left us for Houston and when he retired for several years. Amare didn't trash the Suns or the fans. He said some pro Knicks comments. What he said was relating to the organization. He was here during several major organization shake ups. He doesn't owe it to the Suns to retire as a Sun or lavish us with praise when he retires. His comments are regarding the organization and maybe the Knicks treated him great towards the end. And I know Amare wanted to come back to the Suns the last 2 off seasons for a season before he retired. We didn't even entertain the offer or talk to him about doing so.
Stop being a bunch of petty babies about it. He's a lock for the Ring of Honor.

I care, clearly. Barkley wasn't drafted here, and he only played 4 seasons for Phoenix. I don't give a shit about Charles Barkley as a Sun, really. He was a Rocket for as many seasons as he was a Sun. Amar'e on the other hand was drafted and played 8 seasons for us including all but 1 of his best 6 seasons. That should mean something to him, but it didn't.
As a couple of us have already pointed out, some RofH members had far more egregious partings with the Suns.
Give it a couple of years for a cooling down period and all will be well.
Carey, you're a good sort, but your read on this one may be a bit skewed.

Really?
I mean, regular season I'm totally on board with that.
My guesses as to what you may be referring to are Chuck's buddy-buddiness with Jordan in '93 and the '94 and '95 series with the Rockets.

Is it weird I do not care about anyone thats not on the current roster? Former stars, ROH, etc.. I just dont care. They have zero impact on how this team will fare this year, and thats all that matters to me.

These are the dog days of NBA summer. We gotta find something to kvetch and get excited about ...
Brings back some tough what could have been memories, but a good read.

Correct, I don't think it is and that's why I asked it. I am enjoying reading everybody's responses. I agree with Laz. Give it some time. I do think that maybe Amare was hurt that the Suns didn't want to bring him back and this is his way at lashing out at the organization.

I think he believes he didn't get his fair share of the credit when he & Nash were here together. I think he's trying to distance himself from the organization and does not want to forever be linked to Nash or to the 7SOL Suns.
