After being waived by the Phoenix Suns, the Cavs are reportedly signing Archie Goodwin as a backup guard for Kyrie Irving.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Looks like the above isn't official. Who cares. Good luck Archie.

Re: Suns release Archie Goodwin
Apparently he asked for a trade but the Suns couldn't find a taker at this point in the season.
Re: Suns release Archie Goodwin
He cleared waivers. No team was willing to cut an end-of-the-bencher to pick up Archie for free. They did not want to pay him the $2.1 mil. So now we know his market value.

The Brief Rise and Long Slow Fall of Archie Goodwin
Once upon a time, Archie Goodwin provided Suns fans with a jolt of hope. Now he’s without a team. Here’s what happened in between.

Suns Shut Down Any Archie Goodwin Suitors, Keep Him At Core Of Future
JAN 21, 2015 8:42 PM
The Phoenix Suns have made clear to Archie Goodwin and around the NBA that the franchise has the second-year guard as a cornerstone of its future, shutting down interested suitors, league sources told RealGM.
Whenever contacted with interest from major- and minor- market teams, the Suns have shown no willingness to move Goodwin, promising that he’s a major part of their talent core.

Eh nobody has claimed RJ Hunter yet either.JCSunsfan wrote:He cleared waivers. No team was willing to cut an end-of-the-bencher to pick up Archie for free. They did not want to pay him the $2.1 mil. So now we know his market value.
It's still too early, both Hunter and Goodwin will get picked up once injuries start to unravel in the NBA.

Re: Suns release Archie Goodwin
Goodwin wasn't out of work very long...hardly two weeks if that

Re: Suns release Archie Goodwin
Glad to see him picked up, but let's be honest...the Pelicans are hurting right now. If they had Jrue and Tyreke healthy, they probably wouldn't have even signed Lance. Now he's out. Goodwin's insurance. Doubt he sees meaningful minutes. Wise move tho for the Pels.

Hope Archie gets his head out of his ass and contributes for them. Hint: Pass to the tall guy.

Nah. He'll waive him off and take the game winners.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Hope Archie gets his head out of his ass and contributes for them. Hint: Pass to the tall guy.

To be fair, Asik is pretty bad on offense.Superbone wrote:Nah. He'll waive him off and take the game winners.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Hope Archie gets his head out of his ass and contributes for them. Hint: Pass to the tall guy.
Re: Suns release Archie Goodwin
Feels like the Pelicans have a bunch of players just like Goodwin already on their team. I guess he should fit in well.

Yeah, I was thinking the same... maybe their offensive sets MUST have non-shooting guards in the court to work.In2ition wrote:Feels like the Pelicans have a bunch of players just like Goodwin already on their team. I guess he should fit in well.

I think waiving off Alex Len is slightly different than waiving off Anthony Davis.Superbone wrote:Nah. He'll waive him off and take the game winners.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Hope Archie gets his head out of his ass and contributes for them. Hint: Pass to the tall guy.
On another note, I can't wait till Hornacek dials up the play in a close game for Noah to shoot a 3 instead of Melo, Rose or Porzingis
