Somehow the Suns wound up with the two players who spent most of the season as the starting forwards on the team with the NBA's best record last year.

Anderson will help offensively, but his defense can't be described any way other than "bad." Melton is an interesting prospect - he played well at USC his freshman year, and is probably more combo guard than point guard.

Chriss never developed anything dependable to his game. He has a decent outside shot and can block some shots, but he's below average both offensively and defensively. As for Knight, I wish him well in recovering from his knee injury, but I won't miss him on the court.

Wow, interesting stuff to say the least.
I was catching up on my timeline and saw a tweet with Rockets possible Depth Chart. Thought someone was doing hypothetical trades smh lol. Well as Split said, have seen alot of good assessments by the Draft Nerds on Melton so will wait and see what else is happening

Anderson can still play but in a limited role or you get terribly exploited, although they seem confident that Ayton can cover his ass. If nothing else, now you have a real threat in pick and pop situations for 15-18 mpg.

I know very little about Melton other than he is a good athlete who can defend. Perhaps he's got real potential, but I won't get too carried away since it's hard to me seeing Morey being played if he found a gem.

Money is basically a wash so bottom line, I love to move on from Knight and Chriss.

Rotation is still a question mark, but I am perfectly fine with this move, because it is obvious you were not getting expirings or decent picks for our trash without taking longer bad contracts. Maybe they shine in HOU, but that won't matter to me. It just was not working here and it was time to get rid of them.

Oh, and I absolutely love to hear that Shaq could have a bigger role.

I couldn't be happier to dump Chriss off of the roster. Now I can hate on him for simply being a bad NBA player and drop the self-loathing Suns fan part out of it.

We'll se if Anderson has much left to offer (is he still a good rebounder?), Melton seems well regarded but there were plenty of young guard projects on the team already. It looks like a given that there is a trade for a PG coming, so there is probably little point in discussing the fit on the team before that. The team really screwed up with Chriss from the start though, at least they moved on before he became a chemistry problem.

I like Melton.

Couldn't care less about anything else involved.

Back to my hole now. Cheers.

Just don't let it get to you if/when Knight or Chriss bad mouth the Suns on their way out. Can already hear how they compliment HOU for being a great organzation in contrast to what these poor innocent and totally valid players had to endure in PHX...

I don’t hate this trade (what a low bar to pass over it is for the Suns now!). It does make you shake your head anew at the Chriss draft day move and this has shades of that move, by doubling down on young unproven guards who need time to develop.
But I think it was wildly optimistic to think knight was going to suddenly turn back into a starting quality guard coming off an acl. And we’ve put our lot in with Bender over Chriss, which i’m fine with. So that’s addition by subtraction.

But it’s still a bit of a mismatched roster with more duplication than i’d like. Hopefully Anderson is a heat check player off the bench and we roll with the young guys as much as possible. And you have to think there is at least one more trade coming before the season starts or shortly thereafter.

Chriss was a Watson guy from the start. I'm not at all surprised he's been moved.

BTW, I won't miss Chriss at all ? He has a lot of developing to do. And Knight is a shoot first pass second guard.

I cannot wrap my head around this trade.

I am fine with moving on from Chriss and Knight--what bothers me is that we used them to acquire either a borderline starter pf and/or a rookie/unproven point guard when we already have those exact positions filled on the team. I would have absolutely loved this trade for a borderline starter pg, but we didn't--we appear to always double down in filling the roster with redundant players.

Bring back Dragic! He’s ran Igor’s system and still has a couple years left before Okobo takes over.

Chriss and Knight were probably my two least favorite players on the roster, so I couldn't care less about their departure. The real negative here is how much Anderson is going to cost us. Hopefully he actually provides some value to the team this year, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll wait to determine if this was a good or bad trade since I know nothing about Melton other than what I've read about him the last 10 minutes. Seems like a tough trade to grade until we see what Melton can do on the court.

I think we'll go after somebody like Kemba Walker, Patrick Beverley, Schroeder, or Terry Rozier.

So happy Chriss is gone.

Really nervous that they reach for another overrated PG.

Warren is toast. He's gone for another PG.
