I thought Igor had figured out the staggering thing. Warren/Booker/Ayton all played the first quarter and then sat early second.
He's also running a Canaan-Crawford backcourt extended minutes, because sure.

Ayton is showing progress defensively this game when it comes to helping on drives. That's very encouraging.
Yeah that little spurt he had on his rotations was nice, but thats not been the problem imo. He does that, its the other guys who dont rotate and makes Ayton look bad.
I couldn't disagree more! So far this seasons, he has struggled to make even basic reads when it comes to helping. This is the NBA. People are going to break down the first defender down and get to the rim. Ayton needs to learn to help - that is a center's more important role defensively.
Surprising that a 20 year old rookie isn't able to adjust to the NBA less than a quarter of the way into the season and make those basic reads and help. It's almost like he's inexperienced against NBA players.
I mean, the reads he was fucking up were the simple types of reads that you are taught to make in middle school. The rim is unguarded, and you are the last line of defense. Step over. Which is why his mistakes and were so so frustrating. They were so simple that age and being new to the NBA were not valid excuses. The good news is, he is already making progress which is extremely encouraging.

He played both Booker and Ayton for all of the first half and I just knew that stretch was going to be coming. He tried to counter by pulling Jackson and replacing him with Cannan to put 1 ball handler (Crawford) and 1 rim runner (Holmes) around 3 shooters. It... didn't quite work.

This is where I would like to see Kokoskov reward Jackson for some solid play earlier by putting him in for Ariza to finish the half.

Damn
What is going on now ?!?! Of course we would never be mistaken for a good defensive team but this 3rd quarter been especially badd since we went up by 9.

It is quite ridiculous
Combined that with his good instincts he definitely will be a problem for years

They seem to be attacking Booker on most possessions

Ayton's lack of focus and defensive instincts are on full display here. His complete lack of timing on shot-blocking is frustrating.

Booker is a complete non-factor. I'd argue he's hurting more than he's helping.

We had the ball down 3 and Booker literally threw the game away playing out of control.
