I don't think you have to be a resident to get a vaccine in the states. So if you did come out for the Finals, you could go back fully vaccinated.

I'm still a resident. It's the traveling 20ish hours while unvaccinated that I'm not interested in.

And that still wouldn't be the strangest thing I've seen on a flight crossing the Pacific.

I STILL haven't been further than Hawaii going that way. But when we were at 50,000 feet, I had a flight attendant tell a wife that her husband was dead. Turns out he wasn't, he just passed out in his seat. I just can't imagine the roller coaster of emotion that woman went through on the flight to her honeymoon.

I guess I should have said "I hope I don't die on this flight and they charge me $19 to pee" airlines. I don't consider SW in that league with Allegiant, Spirit, Frontier.

When I first started traveling for my first job out of college, I was required to take the cheapest flight available to where ever we were going. Regardless of, well, anything. I once flew from Phoenix to Mexico City. Normally that is a 3.5 hour flight. I had to stop in Chihuahua. Then in Monterey. And then in Guadalajara. Then I got to go to Mexico City. One of the flights was so delay they just started giving everyone free drinks (and probably the pilots). I don't remember which airlines I flew, but it was one of the longest travel days I have ever had.

Another time I had to go to Milwaukee. Simple enough. But it was December, so not the best of weather. And our last leg was on a prop plane. It only sat about 10 people, so the plane wasn't very long. But on that landing, we had some bad cross winds and the little plan was basically fishtailing as we prepared to land. I kept expecting them to abort and climb, but nope. We smacked down on an icy run way and it felt like we were just going to slide off. We didn't, fortunately.

Growing up I was pretty poor, and think I was only on a plane twice that I remember before becoming an adult. Maybe 3 times. So I didn't know these were bad experiences. I just thought that is how air travel was.

I can sympathize. I’ve had some bad experiences flying, but mostly with delays and lost luggage. In the air I had little expectations anyway so I guess I wasn’t so bothered.

I’ve had a few rough landings with cross winds that had me worried.

My plane landed precisely in time as the ‘17 earthquake hit Mexico City. Pretty sure no one including the pilots were aware on why running across the lane was so rough. Until the cab driver asked me where I was during the shockwave, I learned about it, and a few minutes later, we enter chaos.

The driver was receiving calls about his neighborhood falling apart, but he still delivered me on my hotel before heading home, heroic.

Earthquakes are scary. Mother nature can be very powerful. You have your rolling earthquakes and then you have your shaking ones. The shakers are the scariest ones to go through.
