I really hope not, but upgrading the margins without any assets is gonna be difficult. Either Ayton or the draft picks are gonna go, they recently wasted a first on sorry ass Torrey Craig so my hope of them doing anything smart with a draft pick already shot. Ayton has to approve wherever he may get traded so that limits them as well, so I do think they'll probably run with this with very marginal upgrades.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:23 amYou think this is the roster we run with all season and going into the playoffs?TOO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:01 amOptimism is fun when it's based in reality. Not true. It was not a first, rather the very last pick of the 2022 draft. So, basically nothing.TOO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 11:54 amI really hope not, but upgrading the margins without any assets is gonna be difficult. I said "significant."
This is year 5..
It’s all about the journey. You’ve got to enjoy it along the way otherwise you’ll always be disappointed. Only one team out of 30 wins the championship each year.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 3:11 pmYeah the mood on here is to be expected
That burn from last year just isn't going to go away for most and it's totally understandable so I choose not to come on here trying to change anyone's minds
It's a no win situation, even if the team is playing well in the regular season most will still be caught looking ahead to if it means anything for the Playoffs and probably still might not be optimistic.
I've always been focused on the young core and that our growth as a team is about the internal development of Book, DA and the Twin. There's still much more all of them can add including Book to elevate their play and I gonna continue to believe it's possible, that's just me
If the other 3 ability to score/create more consistently on their own doesn't continue to improve or isn't a focus point during regular season for whatever system we're running....
Then regardless of if we get a couple key additions that is still going to be our key downfall if our main lineups are overly reliant on the backcourt duo
The problem with the Suns is it has been about the journey since 1966. We still haven’t finished it.Superbone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 3:24 pmIt’s all about the journey. Now, let’s compare the Finals team to last year’s team. One could say last year’s team was much deeper and yet they didn’t accomplish as much. This year’s team feels closer to the Finals team depending on what we get for Crowder. You just never know so try to enjoy the ride.
Also, a lot of it depends on when you peak. The Finals team seemed to peak in the playoffs while last year’s team peaked way too early with about 20 games to go in the regular season.
Yeah. I'm not trying to act entitled, but it's hard to enjoy the journey as much when we're in the a very-rare position of being a title contender and we can't or won't make moves to solidify our place there either because of frugality, incompetence or hair-brained ideas of asset-management.SunsRIt wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:01 pmThe problem with the Suns is it has been about the journey since 1966. Makes you wonder how much is James Jones vs Sarver in those instance. Good points made nonetheless. It has been disappointing when we've had needs and done nothing to remedy them.specialsauce wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:25 pmYes, the James Jones way.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:23 amYou think this is the roster we run with all season and going into the playoffs?TOO wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:01 amOptimism is fun when it's based in reality. Last season it was obvious at the deadline we were missing a 4 and a legit backup guard in the worst way. We sat on our hands. The finals year everyone knew we were missing a backup 5. Coming into this year we knew we needed a 4 and a 1/2 at the very least off the bench (if not upgrading on the front end of the roster) and we stood pat. Lots of “rumors” but for whatever reason only the Suns can’t pull the trigger on any deals that don’t involve bit pieces.
As a matter of fact, one could argue that the more reasonable question to ask is “you really think James Jones will actually be proactive in making moves to improve this roster mid-season?”

yeah hopefully that’s all Robert, but it won’t be going away this season most likely if that’s the case!AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:59 pmMakes you wonder how much is James Jones vs Sarver in those instance. A lot of it could have been Sarver. Either way, it feels way too much like the Nash years, where we just never made those extra moves to put the team over the top.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:59 pmMakes you wonder how much is James Jones vs Sarver in those instance. I wouldn’t put it past Sarver to act like a child and refuse to spend money on the team as in, “I’ll show those Phoenix fans what it’s like without me!”JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:57 pmA lot of it could have been Sarver. Technically, he's not allowed to, but it is his good buddy Sam Garvin in charge so it could still be Sarver making the decisions.Superbone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 10:09 pmI wouldn’t put it past Sarver to act like a child and refuse to spend money on the team as in, “I’ll show those Phoenix fans what it’s like without me!”JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:57 pmA lot of it could have been Sarver.
