I was watching the Mavs/Pistons game because it was the only one being played tonight, and holy shit are the Mavs terrible right now. Their defensive effort was so poor and the Pistons lack of general offensive scheme made the Mavs look even worse.

I haven't paid much attention to the Mavs so I decided to look up their schedule. They're 1-8 on the road and haven't won an away game since 10/28, an overtime win against the Nets.

I really have no clue what Dallas is trying to do. It’s almost like they are purposefully building a team that has to rely solely on Luka. Like he wants to prove he can carry a team completely by himself. I think last year was a best case scenario for him and Dallas if that’s the case
It seems like there's friction between the front office and Jason Kidd. I don't know how else to explain his rotations and their summer acquisitions.

Kidd being in favor of a veteran like McGee wouldn't be surprising, and it's pretty clear he's never been enamored with Christian Wood. Maybe they did a "one for you and one for us" kind of thing at the position and both acquisitions aren't working out for obvious reasons.

I'll never believe that the better team won the series last playoffs. We should have won that in 5, but CP turned 37 and his deal with the devil expired.

Presumably it means that teams will be bought by more sketchy groups, like Russian oligarchs, Chinese sweatshop tyrants, and Middle Eastern oil cartels or something of that nature.
You can forget about Chinese sweat shop tyrants. That’s not happening.

It’s early, but right now the all-star races look packed…the way I have it:

West Starters(I’m taking into consideration voters)
G: Luka and Curry
F: LeBron and AD
C: Jokic

West Reserves:
G: Booker and Ja
F: Lauri, Zion, Sabonis
WC: SGA and Bane

Snubs: Fox, Ingram, Wiggins, Lillard, Grant, PG13

East Starters:
G: Trae and Mitchell
F: KD and Giannis
C: Embiid

East Reserves:
G: Haliburton and Brown
F: Tatum, Siakam, Butler
WC: KP, Derozan

Snubs: Garland, Dejounte, Kyrie, Turner, Beal, Harden, Maxey
I think the west is much more open than the east right now. Don’t know if LeBron will be in the starting lineup, he wasn’t last year. Also at this point can’t see how Dame deserves to be in the ASG.

LeBron was the leading vote getter last year, he was team captain. He’s the most famous basketball player and plays for the lakers. He’s definitely starting again. He may withdraw for health, but he’s getting a starting spot.

And Lillard doesn’t…I probably shouldn’t have put him on the snub list.

If Ayton keeps playing like he has and we stay atop the West, I think he’ll get a nod over Sabonis for all-star.

Ya that’s very possible…I didn’t want to throw Ayton up there after just 4 or 5 great games, but the nice thing about Ayton is his stats looked fine from an efficiency standpoint even if he wasn’t doing much early. It seems like in 5 games he went from 14/8 to now averaging 17/10. Even if his numbers don’t stay where they’ve been the last few games, he can be a 22/12 guy with high efficiency and those numbers will climb to 20/11 and that could get him in.

I think this is what’s bugged me the most about Luka…the media has been absolutely in love with him since before he was drafted. A lot of it is warranted, but I have almost never seen the media criticize him at all. It’s always someone else’s fault.

I hope the Mavs make the playoffs so we can face them again.

I think they’ll probably make it in the play in…Having Luka will be really helpful in do or die games. My guess is they snatch one of the 7-8 seeds.

So the Mavs GM confirming Kemba's knee is "not good" but he feels good now and "we'll see how long that lasts". Not a guy you bring in if you're looking for stability. Mavs are reaching here.

Ah damn. I must’ve mixed up AD and LeBron.

I want the Lakers to play just well enough to make a really stupid trade and mortgage their next 5-6 years for a failed attempt at relevancy this year.

I actually think the Lakers could do some damage. AD has been incredible this year. LeBron is more like Jimmy Butler level now, but he’s still very good when he plays. Add some role players and they may actually have something. West is wide open.

Even Westbrook has been decent for them off the bench. But if they can make the trade for say Hield/Turner…I think they can make some noise…assuming they stay healthy.

Schroeder/Hield/LBJ/AD/Turner is a pretty legit. Bench isn’t special, but if they stay healthy, they aren’t a pushover.
