Well we do have a backup pg…we just don’t trust the health of him or the starter. Having KD makes me feel better though. I know some hate point Book, but we can use it pretty easily in the playoffs if we need to now.

Yea I could see us rolling with Payne and Shamet as guard depth knowing we can have KD who can play anywhere including point guard. KD and Book mixed in could be enough now.

Shamet is going to end up being MVP of the Finals and you all will be sharing a giant crow pie!

Wonder when we're going to get some official news on this one.

Sounds like the Magic are dragging their feet in the buyout negotiation.

Honestly you mentioned in another thread that our Playoffs rotation usually comes down to Point Book ahead of Payne
We did it (last night) against Kings - Lee relieved CP3 late 1st then was subbed out to start the 2nd and we saw a little Point Book

So yes if Payne isn't cooking we can always do that in 2nd quarter and again the difference now is that we wouldn't burn out Book because KD would be subbing in at some point, DA would be at the 6min mark of the quarter so will not be forced to keep Book out there

The fact is that Book awesome start to the season was a byproduct of how well he was navigating defenses as Point Book so for sure it's not going anywhere

Don't wanna hijack Ross thread with the above post lol so back on point

D. Lee really is struggling and the thing is even when he was hot from 3 he would run himself in trouble when he tried going off the dribble

Ross is a much better ball handler and driver to the rim so if Ross 3pt shot is falling, D. Lee might lose some burn

He hasn't played in nearly a month, so I'm expecting some rust.

Excited about what Ross could bring. We've never really had a gunner 2/3 like him during this stretch. It could be like bringing JRich off the bench.

I'm all for him taking the Landry minutes and most of D-Lee's minutes, too (when Lee is struggling).

I’m really excited for this signing. He’ll be a reliable scorer off the bench that we’re really lacking. Either him or TJ should start, and the other can be the flamethrower 6th man we’ve needed

He also gives the team a momentum pusher, guy who can go up and get an alley pop or dunk on someone's head, we don't have that currently.

I was curious about this because I couldn't recall seeing many dunks from him in recent years despite his reputation from being in the dunk contest.

2022-23: 42 games played, 5-7 on dunk attempts
2021-22: 63GP, 10-13
2020-21: 46GP, 11-14

While I think he still has some bounce left in his legs, I don't really expect explosive dunks from him very often based on the numbers. We might see one dunk every 6-8 games from him.

By comparison, Josh Okogie this year:

49GP, 15-20 on dunk attempts

He's also been stuck playing with a bunch of bums.

OK. IDK what that has to do with him dunking the ball.
